Positive Regard Network Physical Therapist Assistant in Holyoke, Massachusetts
Physical Therapist Assistant Center School, part of the Positive Regard Network (Chicopee/Holyoke, MA) invites applicants for the position of Physical Therapist Assistant. Position is full time, 52 weeks per year. Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits package including four weeks of vacation time. The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will provide physical therapy services to students as outlined in the student\'s IEP, both through individual and group services as well as mentoring and training staff in supporting PT services for the student in daily classroom work. This position requires an Associate\'s degree in Physical Therapist Assisting, as well as licensure by the Massachusetts Board of Allied Health Professions, Division of Professional Licensure as a Registered Physical Therapy Assistant. There is a preference for a candidate who also maintains Connecticut licensure, as we also have programming in Enfield, CT. Position Responsibilities: - Under the supervision of a Registered Physical Therapist, assists students with exercise programs, gait and balance training, and other therapeutic interventions. - As assigned, provides supervision, mentoring and training for all staff delivering physical therapy services in the school. - Creates, supports and implements by action ADL, transitional and travel skill protocols for students. - Assist with IEP goal development and implementation in conjunction with Physical Therapist. - Implements treatment plans/programs designed by Physical Therapist. - Assists with physical therapy assessments with students, including the school\'s swimming pool as a therapeutic environment, and prepares correspondence reports, as needed. - Prepares updates and reports for presentation at district team meetings and attends team meetings if requested by Physical Therapist. - Monitors student progress; collects data on student progress and documents activities and outcomes. - Adheres to professional licensure standards while upholding the school model of treatment. - Assists students in use of adaptive equipment. Performs maintenance and repair tasks related to school and student equipment. - Maintains professional licensure and participates in conferences, workshops or other courses for professional development. - Confers with parents, doctors, nurses, therapists and counselors with regard to student physical therapy needs.
