ManpowerGroup SVP Finance in Holyoke, Massachusetts

Our client in Holyoke, Mass, a regional bank and one of the most admired companies in Western Massachusetts, is seeking an SVP - Finance who will serve as the leader of the Finance division, responsible for overseeing the Accounting, Treasury and Facilities departments, reporting directly to the EVP – CFO. This position will support the CFO by providing operational management oversight as well as financial analysis and guidance to support the larger financial objectives of the business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain department standards for the day-to-day operations within the Finance Division, evaluate areas for improvement and implement solutions to ensure an effective/efficient work environment.

  • Engage team in efforts to improve department operation and act as a resource for their development; assist in the development of a continuous improvement mindset by setting the example for this way of thinking and incenting this behavior within the team.

  • Oversee the Facilities Department by establishing strategic goals and providing day to day leadership to the team that supports local facility management for banking center locations and new construction projects.

  • Collaborate with Human Resources to support workforce planning through office and building location assignments and create a longer-term space planning strategy in which workspace is maximized for efficiency.

  • Analyze financial and operational results and provide timely input/recommendations for areas of success, as well as improvement. Assist in the implementation of recommendations where appropriate.

  • Provide oversight and guidance to the accounting department to ensure all operational processes and procedures are being handled to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results to internal and external stakeholders, including management and board reports, FDIC call report, annual audited financial statements, and annual tax filings.

  • Oversee the treasury function, ensure effective balance sheet management policies, including adequate bank liquidity, appropriate interest rate risk position, a well-managed investment and wholesale funding portfolio

  • Oversee secondary market (i.e. loan purchases and sales) activities and reporting.

  • Manage the annual budget process, identify ways to improve upon the process, work with team to establish timelines, department deliverables and provide an annual budget that meets the financial goals of the bank; Establish a means for monitoring budget and addressing areas that may need correction mid cycle to ensure the organization remains on target.

  • Report on financial performance and results and at the quarterly Finance and Accounting Committee meetings (Committee of the Board of Directors), as well as respond to inquiries from the Committee on all other applicable reporting requirements detailed within the Committee charter.

  • Oversee and administer the activities of the Bank’s Asset Liability Committee (ALCO) and Pricing Committee; Collaborate with the business lines on ALCO strategies to ensure effective balance sheet management and financial results aligned with the Bank’s strategic goals.

  • Ensure all applicable Finance Division policies are current and up to date and handle the logistics of presentation to the Board of Directors as required by Bank Governance guidelines.

  • Participate in other Bank management committees by representing the Finance Division; provide insight and financial reports where applicable to assist in reaching the committee goals.

  • Support to the Chief of Finance, as needed, such as reporting to Executive Leadership, board committees or at board of director meetings.

  • Serve as a coach/mentor, openly share guidance and technical expertise to develop the skills of the treasury and accounting teams.

  • Complete special assignments necessary to support business strategy; Perform other related duties as required and assigned

  • Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization's desired culture and values

  • Completes all yearly compliance training and testing and complies with bank, federal, and state regulations. Complies with Bank Policies and Procedures. Adhere to departmental and bank-wide service standards.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field required and 10+ years in lead financial position for a financial services, banking or financial consulting firm.

  • CPA designation and public accounting experience preferred.

Skills needed:

  • Conversant with technical and critical components of accounting and finance operations; strong understanding of industry accounting rules and regulations

  • Demonstrate expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices & procedures

  • Relies on extensive experience & judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  • Synthesizes complex or diverse information; conceptualizes solutions

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff. Persuasive in positive or negative situations, demonstrates group presentation skills, and conducts meetings

  • Demonstrate ability to advance multiple priority assignments concurrently and within established deadlines

  • Competent at working in partnership with team members to deliver expected results

  • Prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently, and develop realistic action plans

  • Look for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness

  • Stay current on financial best practices and provide expertise to division and overall organization

  • Computer Skills: General computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite and Accounting software.
