Cape Symphony Orchestra Box Office Assistant in Hyannis, Massachusetts

The Cape Symphony needs an additional Box Office Assistant to support the Box Office Manager. The Box Office is located at the West Barnstable office of the Cape Symphony and presents at least ten concerts a year (25 performances) at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center. Tickets are sold on a subscription basis and individually. The Box Office Assistant will learn how to use ticket sales software and how to sell tickets to customers over the phone and in person. He/she will also learn how to prepare for a concert and how to process subscription renewals. This position is part-time and a regular schedule of hours will include Box Office coverage at concerts, which occur once a month on weekends. RESPONSIBILITIES: Sell tickets by phone and in person using Spektrix ticketing software. Process incoming subscription renewals and follow up with non-renewed subscribers. Retrieve Box Office voicemails and emails and return customer messages daily. Stuff envelopes and mail out ticket orders daily. Help organize Will Call, Special Offer and Complimentary tickets the week before a concert. Set up technology at the Performing Arts Center and staff Box Office during concert weekends. Cover for the Box Office Manager as needed. Maintain Spektrix data base, assist with mailing list and research projects, manipulate sales data in Excel. Organize Box Office supplies. Assist with the management of Group Sales, taking reservations, creating confirmations, processing final count and payment. Assist with event calendar listings online and on our website and similar marketing related tasks. QUALIFICATIONS: MUST have exceptional communications skills because he/she will be interacting with the public regularly. This includes a pleasant phone manner, excellent customer service approach and attitude, and solid writing skills. STRONG comfort level with technology and ability to learn new software applications quickly. Highly organized and detail-oriented. Reliability is vitally important. Ability to work independently once trained. Team Player attitude is necessary in this tight-knit non-profit. Occasionally may need to go to the Barnstable Performing Arts Center or visit one of our vendors to pick up materials. Must have transportation/driver?s license.
