This position is a fulfilling way to transition from doing the work to coaching & mentoring someone with intellectual & developmental disabilities (IDD) on how to do the work &/or learn job-site skills. You will go home feeling good about what you have seen them accomplish. This is a fun, hard job with great potential for growth! Qualifications: Successful employment, ideally in automotive, hardware, retail, restaurant, hospitality, or a teaching/training environments. Supportive & positive approach required. Relevant professional, personal, or volunteer experience &/or education with our population is required. Hours: Monday-Friday, primarily regular daytime hours, with an occasional Saturday rotation. Flexibility in exact hours worked is available, but the needed vacancies are above. Your Skills: Ability to provide individual instruction to the wonderful LIFE individuals to help them reach their full potential in their workplace. Must have good organizational & computer skills. Must have excellent verbal & written communication skills & good computer skills. Must be a team player with the ability to work with the entire team to the benefit of our clients. Be creative in your approach to each individuals specific needs. Experience (or education) with Human Services &/or Learning Disabilities is required. If you have good relationship skills, we will train you! (Special Olympics experience & personal experience is valued.) Responsibilities Include: Assist, organize, & facilitate activities as assigned or designed. Assist the residents with meeting their goals & objectives in apartment maintenance, personal health maintenance, nutrition, fitness & social skills development. Assist the residents with grocery shopping & preparing healthy meals safely. Participate in team-related services; staff meetings, resident/roommate issues, resident case reviews with staff &/or family, etc. Complete routine documentation after every session or significant communication with residents. Maintain all required trainings through our Learning Management System &/or in-person. Make recommendations to meet the needs of residents that are beyond the scope of the LIFE Coach (i.e., medication adjustments, therapy by licensed clinician, private tutor, house cleaner, etc.). Maintain sanitary conditions of workspaces & vehicles; complies with LIFE guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (i.e. uses personal protective equipment, social distancing, etc.). Must have a valid driver?s license with acceptable driving record & dependable transportation. Must be able to pass CORI & fingerprinting background checks through our governing agency (DDS) & DPPC. Must have current certification in CPR/AED/First Aid or be willing to attend training through LIFE. Requirements: Dependability, patience & positivity are required to mentor these individuals. This is of utmost importance. Experience with the population we work with excellent, but we will train the right candidate (Personal experience & volunteer work counts!) Must live in or around the mid-upper Cape Cod, MA area. Your office location can be in the LIFE Hyannis or Mashpee office. Must be able to maintain professionalism in all workplaces. Must be willing to attend training through LIFE for CPR/First Aid. Per the state of MA DDS, must be able to pass CORI, DPPC & fingerprint check & have an MVR record acceptable to LIFE?s auto insurance carrier.
