Cape Abilities, Inc. Pre-ETS Vocational Specialist $19.00 per hour in Hyannis, Massachusetts

GENERAL SUMMARY

Within the goals set by the Pre-ETS Program Director for the Pre-Employment Transition Service Program for Cape Abilities, the Vocational Specialist will implement services as designed in individualized vocational plans and curriculums.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Fosters good working relationship with employers and school personnel

  • Completes vocational assessment, interest inventory, job development, internship placement and business inquiries

  • Implementation of vocational plans/ Pre-ETS curriculum for each student assigned

  • Consults with Pre-ETS team to develop individualized assessments for each assigned student and develops Workplace Experience opportunities based on assessments, individual interests and team input

  • Contributes ideas during team meetings regarding community exploration, business contacts and networking strategies for all students

  • Provides job coaching for students in community-based Workplace Experiences throughout worksite locations, as assigned

  • Assists and identifies goals geared toward the advancement and fulfillment of students’ service plans

  • Maintains regular correspondence with teachers/ MRC Vocational Counselors of students assigned to caseload

  • Develops and maintains contact with employers of students to track progress, successes, concerns and reports to Pre-ETS team

  • Attends all meetings as requested

  • Fosters maximum amount of student’s independence whenever individual is ready

  • Serves as a role model

  • Implements vocational curriculum in compliance MRC/School personnel.

  • Maintains professional relationships with contracting agency, other agencies, and internal staff.

  • Serves as mandated reporter for suspected abuse and/or neglect of individuals to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC)

  • Advocates for individuals

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or educational experience preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years prior related experience.

  • Ability to teach and model occupational tasks.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in both verbal and written form with coworkers and supported individuals and read fluently.

  • Valid driver’s license in the state of Massachusetts required.

  • Successful completion of all state and Agency mandated trainings required upon hire.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • No supervisory responsibility.
