State of Massachusetts Residential Evening Shift Supervisor - Mental Health Worker IV in Hyannis, Massachusetts

The Cape & Islands Adult Community Clinical Services (ACCS)operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking an experienced and dedicated direct care professional who will act as the Residential Shift Supervisor (MHW IV) to a residential group home team withing the ACCS program. The selected candidate will provide the rehabilitative interventions to persons with major mental illness, monitor record keeping and ensure staff adhere to program procedures. In addition, this position will assume supervisory responsibilities for the shift and as assigned by and in the absence of the Residential Supervisor. The successful candidate will engage clients individually and within in a group in the development of meaningful activities such as recreation, education, health and fitness, participate in the development and implementation of Individual Action Plans (ISPs) and assist clients with building and utilizing skills to achieve treatment goals, manage symptoms, and develop independent living skills. In addition, this position assists the Residential Supervisor with securing appropriate services for persons served and ensuring that the program maintains compliance with Rehab Options, Joint Commission standards and DMH licensing standards. Please Note: This position is 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will work on 2ndshift, Sunday to Thursday from 3:00pm-11:30pm. The days off are Friday and Saturday. /Employees in this position will be required to perform mandatory overtime./ Duties and Responsibilities (these duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive): * Provide functional supervision and modeling of effective person-centered approaches for all 2nd shift MHWs, while providing leadership and support in the Group Living Environment (GLE) to ensure the safety and care of clients and positive morale of staff. * Performs environmental surveillance operations in the ACCS Group Living Environment (GLE) to ensure compliance with established standards, regulations, and protocols. * Assist in the development and implementation of person served Individual Action Plans through direct observation of the person served, full knowledge of the person served history, and engagement with the person served to assist them in learning the necessary skills to live successfully in the community including working with benefit specialist to assist Persons with obtaining and maintaining benefits and entitlements. * Knowledge of all medications used within the program, including their indications, risks and side effects, and the ability to teach person served about their medications and how to take them appropriately by utilizing MAP related material and training. * Responsible for transporting or arranging transportation for persons served that need that level of service. * Assist the Residential Supervisor in ensuring program compliance with Rehab Option, Joint Commission and DMH Licensing standards by reviewing and implementing these standards and maintaining contact with the landlord, The Dir. of Facility Operations, and the ACCS Dir. regarding any facility concerns. Assume all managerial responsibilities when the Residential Supervisor is absent in order to ensure the adequate operation of the program. * Ongoing yard, house and vehicle maintenance and cleaning as assigned by supervisor or designee to ensure that the condition of GLE site/yard meets Rehab Option, and Licensing. Keep emergency exits maintained at all times. __ _Required Qualifications:_ * o Ability to follow written and oral instructions. o Capacity to perform basic mathematics. o Proven ability to gather information through observing and questioning individuals. o Talent for communicating effectively in oral expression, writing clearly and concisely, and developing ideas in logical sequence. o Skilled in interacting with people who are under emotional stress with the ability to maintain a calm manner in stressful or emergency situations. _Special Requirements:_ * o Please note in accordance with an agreement between the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Mental Health and AFSCME/Council 93, employees assigned to a work unit where the Medication Administration Program (MAP) is used are required to pass MAP certification within 6 months of entering the position or 3 examination opportunities, whichever comes first. Employees are required to maintain MAP certification as long as you are working in said program. o Possession of a current and valid class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s license required for this function. * * _Preferred Qualifications:_* * * o Experience in and/or knowledge of human services. o MAP Certification. o Experience with DMH regulations and program procedures. o Familiarity and implementation of MAP policies. o Experience working with individuals with serious, persistent mental illness, substance abuse and/or who have experienced homelessness. o Previous experience working in a residential setting. o Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency. _ DMH Vision and Mission:_ The Department of Mental Health, as the State Mental Health Authority, assures and provides access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages, enabling them to live, work and participate in their communities.
