Greater Lawrence Community Action Council Inclusion Coach in Lawrence, Massachusetts

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Center Director, the Inclusion Coach is responsible for supporting the activities of the classroom teachers to ensure best practice, ensure the inclusion of all children, and support families in referral processes.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure inclusion of all children, regardless of needs, different learning styles, and differences.

  • Support teachers in their roles of educating, including, and nurturing all children.

  • Serve as a resource person and mentor for teaching staff in support of staff development.

  • Provide guidance in the following areas; curriculum planning, individualization through observation of daily activities and discussions with teaching teams.

  • Document feedback to teaching team and share with supervisor to assure follow-up occurs.

  • Facilitate the development of children’s self- regulatory behaviors through guiding teachers in consistent, positive classroom management techniques.

  •  Participate in team meetings as part of a case management approach. 

  • Assist with adherence to Program Policies and other DEEC regulatory requirements related to Inclusion and Education of young children.

  • Promote career development, continued learning with education staff. 

  • Ensure classrooms are adequately equipped with developmentally appropriate materials and that curriculum activities are developmentally appropriate.

  • Assure timely and proper individualizations for all children.

  • Monitor teaching team activities and provide direction and coach/mentoring support where needed. 

  • Ensure school readiness for all children and support parent engagement activities.

  • Assist with the coordination of transition activities for children and families entering/leaving the program.

  • Other duties as assigned based on the program’s needs

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelors degree in ECE or related field with strong understanding of diverse learners’ needs and educator coaching techniques.

  • CPR and First Aid certificate preferred or ability to maintain CPR/ FA within 30 days of hire.

  • Show documented proof of current physical exam, negative TB test and proof of MMR immunity.  (Hepatitis B immunity is advisable). 

  • Must have a suitable CORI, SORI & DCF background check and fingerprinting on file prior to employment

  • Ability to work effectively with and meet the needs of people from a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, and identities, including underserved communities and people from the different racial groups, socioeconomic statuses, nationalities, and languages that make up GLCAC’s clientele, to support the agency’s mission of building a more diverse, equitable and inclusive organization for employees and clients alike.

Other:

Travel:  Occasional travel required to attend meetings, training, and visits to other sites.

Physical Demands: This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
