Lawrence General Hospital Laundry Aide in Lawrence, Massachusetts
As a Linen Control Associate, you will be responsible for the day to day linen exchange throughout the facility. Laundry exchange service are provided to ensure that both clean and soiled linens are processed, linen is stored and distributed under sanitary conditions. Laundry services provide maximum care and comfort to patients and hospital personnel relative to bacteria free quality and sufficient quantity of linens. The Associate ensures that the department provides excellent customer service ensures adequate levels of clean linen are stored in essential areas. Preventing cross contamination is essential as well as providing essential clean linen for LGH Staff.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Checks Linen par sheet for exact quantities of Laundry departments needed daily.
Effectively communicate department needs to Lead Linen Inventory Control Associate.
Ensure all Linen requests and inquiries are addressed in a timely manner.
Count pieces needed from shelf inventory to assure agreement with par sheet daily.
Loads linen into unit carts in a neat and orderly manner.
Deliver clean linen by cart to all nursing or ancillary units according to scheduled times.
Take calls in a courteous manner.
Transports empty carts to soiled linen room and stores carts there throughoutthe morning to maintain tidiness of all laundry areas.
Place bags of soiled linen into carts by emptying sub-basement chute and first floor chute.
Collects soiled linen from units without chute access.
Follows proper safety guidelines to prevent the cross contamination.
Transports clean linen carts from storage area to clean linen room.
Consolidates patient linen carts by item specific locations in clean linen room in a neat and orderly fashion.
Stacks wearing apparel neatly by sizes onto portable shelves.
Totals each item and records each count daily.
Informs supervisor of any excessive or insufficient supply of any item.
Notifies lead or supervisor immediately of malfunctioning equipment.
Handles hampers, carts and trucks so as not to endanger patients, visitors or hospital personnel.
Disinfects linen carts on a regular monthly schedule.
Does all routine housekeeping as required to maintain tidiness of all laundry areas.
Ability to practice safety effective body movement and weight distribution as the job requires physical handling of differentiated weighted linen products.
Cooperates on special assignments as required.
EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE: Preferred:
High School Diploma
Previous hospital experience
Ability to be flexible and organized, and to work independently
