We seek leaders who are committed to the community college mission, actively engaged in promoting diversity, and prepared to use their unique strengths and innovation with the goal of student success. * * Job Description: POSITION:Full-Time Upskill Navigator and Training Specialist: Special Programs Coordinator; MassHire Merrimack Valley Career Center (MVCC); 420 Common Street, Lawrence; MCCC/MTA Unit Professional Position; 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM, (Occasional evening hours. Hours may be adjusted and compensated in alignment with contractual guidelines); Pay Grade 4; Grant Funded Position SUMMARY: The UpSkill Navigator and Training Specialist is responsible for the recruitment, screening, and enrollment of MassHire Merrimack Valley Career Center customers into skills training programs funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), Career Technical Initiative (CTI), and other specially funded training initiatives. The purpose of this position is to help those customers interested in training achieve their employment goals in regional priority industries via specially funded training grants. The Training Specialist will creatively recruit customers for training, determine customers' eligibility for specific training programs, conduct enrollment procedures, and support enrolled customers through program completion. Additionally, the Training Specialist will develop relationships and collaborate closely with training providers, Market Makers, and others in the workforce development system. RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties for this position include: * Maintain knowledge of and engage with ARPA, CTI, and other specially funded training partners to o Understand regional strategy and training priorities o Develop expertise on training providers in region including key programs, training cycles, eligibility requirements, and prerequisites o Solicit feedback from training providers regarding ideal applicants and success of past referrals o Collaborate with regional Market Maker on all the above * Build and implement a marketing campaign, including social media, to aggressively recruit participants, both existing MassHire customers and other interested residents of the Merrimack Valley region, for training opportunities; continually assess and work toward implementing effective recruitment methods that yield positive enrollment outcomes o Create marketing collateral to promote programs o Utilize data to recruit participants o Coordinate and lead various internal career center and community outreach activities to attract training candidates which may include information sessions, industry panels, and other events to promote training opportunities * Facilitate enrollment of candidate into training programs o Meet with and assess needs of training candidates, including career aspirations, income requirements, current skill level and future training needs, personal preferences, and program fit to ensure enrollment appropriateness and readiness o Support customer applications by ensuring accurate completion of registration forms, CORI/SORI requests, and collection of all documentation as required by the training program funding source o Make direct connections to training partner(s) as needed * Assist MassHire customers in navigating resources o Refer customers to support services before and after training enrollment to ensure access to support programs (mentorship, housing, childcare vouchers, etc.) o Case manage training program participants to promote persistence, maintaining contact at a minimum of every 30 days o Provide post-placement support * Collaborate with MassHire Merrimack Valley Career Center recruiters and business service representatives to facilitate placement of training graduates into training-related employment * Perform required data entry using the state's MOSES system and any other database/system as required by the training program funding source * Engage internal stakeholders for technical assistance and sharing best practices * Participate in staff development and cross training opportunities that expand and support functional skills and promote professional growth * The Classification Specification is available at: Programs Coordinator - HB 1112.doc PLEASE NOTE, WE DO NOT REVIEW APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED THROUGH MASSCAREERS. PLEASE APPLY VIA THE LINK BELOW: Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: * A Bachelor's degree in a related field * Minimum of two (2) years professional experience involving career counseling case management, recruitment of training participants. * Ability to work independently. * Strong oral and written communication skills. * Knowledge of and connections to the Merrimack Valley community to facilitate recruitment of training participants. * Working knowledge of social media and computer software (MS Office). * Ability to interact with a wide range of individuals and personalities. * Knowledge of regional employment and workforce trends. * Transportation and valid driver's license required. * Must have the ability to work evenings and weekends, as necessary PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Past experience in employment and training, human resources, counseling or marketing. * Bilingual (Spanish/English) * Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population BACKGROUND CHECK:Candidates will be required to pass a CORI and SORI check as a condition of employment. * * Additional Information: GRADE AND SALARY: Anticipated salary range is $57,249.00 - $62,448.00 (MCCC Pay Grade 4 with a Bachelor's degree) annually with complete fringe benefit package.
