Environmental Health & Safety Manager Job Lee, MA Salary: \$90k - \$95K Location: Lee, MA The EHS Manager is responsible for recognizing and evaluating safe workplace conditions to eliminate risks that impact people, property and/or the environment. Collaborate cross-functionally within the organization to drive EH&S solutions to assigned areas of focus. Provide direct partnership and hands-on support to all departments Duties and Responsibilities: - Assess and manage safety, health and environment (EH&S) programs and initiatives. Consider key metrics to trend and share for decision making opportunities. - Keep informed of current and proposed regulations related to the program assigned and provide recommendations for compliance and improvement. - Contribute to the development of EH&S standard operating procedures, specifications and guidelines that drive a strong safety culture. - Design standards, processes, and systems/tools to drive consistency, efficiency and quality of the EH&S system. - Research new EH&S technologies and procedures that could be utilized to improve the EH&S performance and culture. - Conduct industrial hygiene and/or environmental monitoring - Lead and participate on EH&S walkthroughs and drive corrective and preventative actions. - Identify continuous improvement activities related to EH&S and champion solutions aligned with company and department metrics and business objectives and strategies. - Prepare and deliver classroom-based and online EH&S training programs to employees and contractors. - Perform pre-construction risk assessments - Regularly consult with members of the Facilities & Maintenance departments on inspection findings and facilitate actions based on regulatory compliance and best practice guidance - Participate in preliminary hazard assessments and/or hazard and operability studies of processes and/or materials per procedure and guidelines - Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for purchased and client-supplied chemicals and hazardous materials. - Conduct accident, incident and near-miss investigations to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions - Chair and lead safety committee and provide high-quality guidance and effective EH&S resolution - Maintain continuous oversight of all facets of work-place safety, including, but not limited to, accident investigations, report compliance, OSHA logs and corrective action lists - Other duties as assigned - Two plus (2+) years in an Environmental, Health and/or Safety role Education: - Associate degree in related field or equivalent work experience preferred - Experience may be substituted for education Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills - The ability to work well under pressure - Teamworking skills - Good analytical skills - Ability to work independently when required - Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Access - The ability to cope with shift work and unsocial hours, which are at times required - Experience with standard office equipment (computers, phones, and photocopiers) - Proficient in Microsoft applications - Outstanding organization skills - Strong facilitation experience and the ability to educate adult learners - Ability to effectively communicate with all levels - Ability to identify hazards and unsafe work practices - Ability to train and coach employees on issues relating to EH&S and to troubleshoot concerns - Good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to obtain required OSHA and related certifications
