CLICK HERE to view the full job description and to apply!{target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"} About the Role The Director of Humanities and the Tanglewood Learning Institute will serve as a key member of the leadership team, overseeing the growth, development, and implementation of the BSO\'s humanities programs. This role requires a visionary thinker with a deep appreciation for the humanities and its broad implications in society. The ideal candidate will be a leader with a commitment to advancing interdisciplinary studies, fostering innovation across BSO programming streams, and connecting our current and future audiences to the music performed on our stages. About the Humanities Institute The Humanities Institute builds upon the early successes of the Tanglewood Learning Institute and applies that programming philosophy across the organization and across all of our venues and seasons. Specifically, it aims to engage leading artists, scholars and activists in creating, presenting and performing work that contextualizes and informs the music we perform on our stages. Through lectures, festivals, exhibitions, and multi-disciplinary presentations, in collaborative partnerships with colleague arts, cultural and educational institutions, the Humanities Institute will foster deeper connections with the populations we currently serve, while creating opportunities to invite and engage new audiences to our work. About the Tanglewood Learning Institute While Tanglewood is traditionally known for its summer music festival, the establishment of Tanglewood Learning Institute (TLI) in 2019 enabled a year-round presence in the Berkshires, allowing locals and visitors alike to engage with the arts in various capacities beyond the summer months. TLI provides a variety of year-round programming in the humanities and opportunities for learning and engagement with the arts, often in connection with the music festival\'s programming. This includes providing within the Linde Center for Music and Learning a broad spectrum of programs during the Tanglewood season and throughout the year. Qualifications - 10-15 years of academic, administrative and management experience within an academic or cultural organization recommended, with a strong knowledge and love of music. - Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills. - Demonstrated ability to communicate well both in verbal and written forms. - Proven leadership experience in an academic or cultural institution. - Demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarship, and program development. - Advanced degree in Administration or equivalent in a humanities discipline. - Strong interpersonal skills applied to collaborative partnerships. - Ability to inspire and motivate teams, students, and the broader community. - Passionate commitment to the advancement of the humanities in society. - Experience working with faculty, students, patrons, donors required as well as in educational program design, development, evaluation, and administration. - Experience with budget management within a fast paced, multi-faceted organization. - Knowledge and experience with community outreach efforts.
