QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR (HR-JD-1045) - Department: Overhead SUMMARY: Under general supervision performs a variety for daily inspections and testing within the guidelines set by the Company; and performs related work as required with quality workmanship. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Checks daily production sheets for daily work area assignments. B. Assists in maintaining necessary detailed records and files for all products. C. Obtains specific samples from each run and visually inspects for missed or incomplete operations, faulty finish, burrs, scratches, or specific defaults (i.e. molding machines inspections). D. Uses and assembles specified devices such as gauges, scales, scopes, and Micrometers. E. Performs tests to meet specific specifications set by the Company and its Customers. F. Prepares and analyzes SPC charts and may be required to perform other statistical tests. G. Detects and reports any irregular operations, questionable or defective parts, assemblies, needed repairs, safety hazards, or special problems to supervisor. H. Does final inspections (AQL) and is responsible for quality of all completed products before shipping. I. Assists the Sr. Q.C. Inspector as needed. J. In the absence of the Sr. Q.C. Inspector will have the authority to make decisions after having received verbal approval from the Sr. Q.C. Inspector, Q.C. Manager, or upper management; may instruct Molding Dept. to shut down a mold, reject work, or put work on hold until machine or operation adjustments are made and approved. K. Has the ability to instruct, train, or question a co-worker. L. In cases of an intermittent quality issue on a machine, or when there is general indecision concerning the acceptability of some parts, they may be saved on separate trays and evaluated through an MRB review at a later time. M. Shall advise Lead person when a problem is detected at a molding machine, but shall not offer input as to how the machine should be fixed. N. Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations; reports any unsafe conditions and alleged injuries immediately to Supervisor or Department Manager. O. Performs good housekeeping and other duties as required in a safe and organized way. P. Operate molding machines in order to relieve operators for breaks. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability and willingness to work during a 24-hour period, weekends and holidays if necessary. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job Hazards include working with machinery, tools, chemicals and hot plastic, in addition to a seasonal hot and cold environment. EDUCATION/RELATED EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and/or any type of past work experience as a quality control inspector, training in the use of various measuring tools, and intermediate computer skills. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to read, write and speak English, have the ability to use a calculator, be able to do basic math equations, and be computer literate. Must possess the ability to use measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and gauge blocks. Must have a positive attitude, a satisfactory work history, maintain a good attendance record, and work well with co-workers. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have satisfactory eyesight or correctable vision (periodic testing may be required). Must wear personal protective equipment where posted or required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time.
