SINGLE DEPARTMENT CLASS B OPERATOR/INSPECTOR (HR-JD-1070) - Department: Molding SUMMARY: Under general supervision will operate an injection molding machine (s) to ensure quality product is being molded per the guidelines set by the Company and performs related work as required with quality workmanship. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Possesses the knowledge and understanding of the product line so as to be able to run any job in the Molding Department. B. Inspects for optical distortion crazing, pits, discoloration, scratches or digs, and gas marks. C. Maintains necessary detailed records of product being molded. D. Detects and reports any irregular operations, defective parts or assembles, needed repairs, safety hazards or special problems to supervisor. E. Clean mold as instructed. F. Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations and reports any work related injuries or unsafe work conditions to Shift Lead Person or Department Manager. G. Performs housekeeping and other duties as required in a safe and organized way: a. Machines are kept clean and free of debris b. Oil & water spills are properly cleaned up c. Walkways and surrounding areas are kept clean of debris d. Trash and scrap are properly removed and discarded e. Metal racks are stacked properly and removed on a timely manner H. Train new operators as needed. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability and willingness to work during a 24-hour period, weekends, and holidays if necessary. WORKING CONDITIONS: Job Hazards can include working with hot plastic, chemicals and machinery in addition to a hot and cold environment. EDUCATION/RELATED EXPERIENCE: High school or trade school diploma or equivalent training and/or certification. Previous working experience in plastic and or optical molding and helpful. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to read, write and speak English and be able to do basic math. Must have a positive attitude, work well with co-workers and maintain a good attendance record. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time.
