Join Takeda as an Associate Director, US Medical Communications, Congress Strategy - Dermatology/Immunology out of our Lexington, MA office. Reporting into the US Medical Communications and Scientific Training Director, Dermatology/Immunology, this position is a visible role to support the development, operationalization, and execution of Takeda US Medical’s scientific and medical congress strategy in Dermatology/Immunology. You will lead the creation of a roadmap and process for Medical Congress presence and engagement. This role requires someone who can constructively collaborate cross-functionally to develop an industry-leading operational framework and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

How you will contribute:

  • Develop and manage the annual congress strategic planning process for US Medical Communications Dermatology/Immunology team (including forecasting +3 years) and ensuring proper linkage to the Annual US Medical and Budget Planning process

  • Lead cross-functional, annual and periodic congress planning meetings

  • Maintain a high level of cross-functional coordination, strategic planning, budget and compliance adherence, liaising with other planning groups (e.g., meetings and events, finance, etc.)

  • Benchmark and develop insights strategy to ensure constant awareness of changing landscape of scientific congress presence to support developing Takeda’s leadership presence

  • Collaborate on new and innovative digital engagement and communication approaches associated with congress strategies

  • Develop and implement impactful metric measures for medical activities at congresses, enable adoption of best practices, articulate lessons learned to inform future planning consistently

  • Develop and manage internal congress Microsoft Teams and SharePoint sites, and various digital resources

  • Drive any needed congress workstream “think tank” initiatives

  • Inform the list of US Medical preferred agencies for congress use

  • Ensure and maintain Takeda’s awareness of industry standards and best practices, and lessons learned to inform Takeda’s congress strategy

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry preferably within a matrix structure and medical affairs roles (e.g. Medical Science Liaison, Medical Information, Medical Communications, Medical Education, Publications) for candidates with doctoral degree or 7+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry for candidates with a master’s degree required

  • Experienced leading congress planning in Dermatology is strongly preferred; having led the planning and execution of at least 3 major US congresses

  • Strong collaborator able to inspire teamwork

  • Experience managing complex cross-functional projects, multi-department budgets, PO processes, and vendor management

  • Well-developed ability to identify and interpret problems, recommend creative alternatives, and influence the decision-making process to obtain optimum solutions

  • Ability to oversee multiple activities simultaneously while facing many deadlines

  • Familiarity with US regulatory and legal guidelines regarding medical communication strategy and execution

  • Fluent in Microsoft Office 365 suite of apps (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

  • Experience with project-based financial management and administration

U.S. Base Salary Range:

149,100.00 - 234,300.00

The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. The actual base salary offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.

U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/ or long-term incentives. U.S. based employees may be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others. U.S. based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendar year, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible to accrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
