MIT Lincoln Laboratory Business Manager in Lexington, Massachusetts

In the Cyber Operations & Analysis Technology Group at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, we research challenging technical problems in cyber security, develop new technologies, and prototype first-of-a-kind systems. We have particular focus on enabling human operators and improving operational systems, orienting our work toward strong practical impact.
We work across a variety of cutting-edge national-security applications:
Enhancing the cyber security and resilience of critical infrastructure and other operational technology
Quantifying risk posed by adversary cyber threats to key national security missions
Helping the nation’s cyber operators do their jobs better, faster, and at greater scale
Creating game-changing capabilities for defensive cyberspace operations
Protecting and defending emerging U.S. systems for conducting Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2)
Developing techniques to coordinate actions for emerging mission scenarios combining cyber and other mission domains such as air, land, sea, and space
Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Manager to lead and oversee the business operations of our Cyber Operations & Analysis Technology Group. The ideal candidate will bring a strategic perspective to managing the group's financial, administrative, and operational affairs, ensuring alignment with the group's research goals and MIT Lincoln Laboratory's mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategic business plans and budgets in collaboration with group leadership to support research initiatives and project goals.
Manage financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
Develop dashboards and tools (using SAP, Excel, or other appropriate software) that enable effective program-level awareness, forecasting, and decision making.
In collaboration with group leadership, develop financial and resource management metrics and targets; track group-wide execution toward agreed upon targets and provide regular reporting for group and division management.
Oversee contract management processes, ensuring compliance with government, sponsor, and MIT policies and regulations.
Lead procurement functions, and support the group's operational efficiency.
Review and edit statements of work (SOWs), memorandums of justification (MOJs), and associated program documentation for clarity of purpose; work with staff to ensure that SOWs and MOJs are clear and provide appropriate level of detail.
Facilitate communication and coordination between the group and internal/external stakeholders, including government sponsors and industry partners.
Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance the group's operational effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in business management or administration, preferably in a research or technical environment.
Strong financial and analytical skills, with experience in budgeting, financial planning, and contract management. Outstanding excel skills required.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and projects.
Knowledge of government contracting and compliance requirements is highly desirable.
