Duration: 36 Months and 40 hours per week

Our client’s Cyber System Assessments Group provides the U.S. Government with independent assessments of cyber systems and capabilities. This is accomplished through the research and development of unique, cutting edge technical capabilities for understanding, testing, assessing and analyzing cyber technologies. In addition to the principal mission of planning, constructing, supporting and executing testing and evaluation activities of cyber capabilities, the Group also focuses on red-teaming to identify weaknesses in U.S. systems and characterization of adversary capabilities. The Group achieves success through excellence and experience in core technical competencies, including the planning and execution of cyber evaluations, development of realistic, high-fidelity test environments to model the Internet and networks of interest, modeling of adversary capabilities, development of threat surrogates, low-level systems analysis for vulnerability discovery and malicious software analysis, low-observable system instrumentation and forensic analysis, and reverse engineering.

Our client’s Cyber System Assessments group is seeking an experienced Computer Systems Engineer to join us in Lexington, Massachusetts. In this role, you will need to have computer administration skills, network administration skills, hardware skills, software development, testing, automation and orchestration skills, and the ability to adapt to the needs of a growing and evolving team. You’ll need to be flexible, motivated, and able to quickly learn new technologies to meet requirements.

Candidates will need to be able to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment. They must also possess a love for technical challenges, a desire to constantly learn, and be able to establish themselves as a critical player within a team.

The position shall be responsible for delivering high-availability server and network infrastructure to sustain the online and on-site information technology activities of users through secure and reliable means. The position is responsible for the design and implementation of server and network configurations, troubleshooting performance issues, carrying out server and network monitoring and the configuration of security systems, such as firewalls. The position shall work closely with project managers and other engineers to manage capacity and carry out support.

Additionally, the positions shall be responsible for maintaining computer infrastructures on all networks. Responsibilities will focus on the administration and management of on-site servers, software-network interactions as well as network integrity/resilience are the key areas of focus. Specifically, the duties will include server and network monitoring, testing the servers and networks for weakness, monitoring necessary server and network updates, installing and implementing security programs, administering Internet filters, and evaluating and implementing the network.

These positions shall also be responsible for ensuring that computer hardware and network infrastructure related to data networks are effectively maintained. These positions shall be involved in the procurement of new hardware, the rollout of new software and software patches, maintaining all data, files and logs stored on the system including backup plans and procedures, procuring licenses, maintaining the standards for server installations and applications, monitoring the performance of the servers and network as well as checking for security breaches and poor data management practices.
