MIT Lincoln Laboratory Financial Analyst in Lexington, Massachusetts
Job Description
As a member of MIT Lincoln Laboratory’s Finance Department within the Financial Operations Group, this position reports to the Business Manager overseeing five groups within the Director’s Office. The role supports the operational budget management of these groups and involves preparing detailed financial reports. Additionally, the position collaborates with the Funding Team and Program Teams to provide financial and administrative support. This includes data management, developing and refining financial models, contributing to funding and budget execution updates, coordinating meetings, and assisting in the planning of special events. The position serves as a key resource for the Director’s Office and the Financial Operations Team.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative and Financial Support
Approve staff timesheets, process purchase orders, and track orders through SRM
Make PCARD purchases and oversee PCARD approval processes
Facilitate and monitor procurement activities, ensuring timely invoice payments
Research and resolve open commitments in collaboration with support staff
Financial Reporting
Assist the Business Manager in collecting, analyzing, and preparing financial reports
Utilize templates and tools to summarize program expenditures and activities
Prepare program-level financial reports for government sponsors
Generate detailed financial reports using data warehouse tools in response to data calls
Operational and Event Support
Coordinate, plan, and execute meetings (onsite, offsite, and virtual)
Assist in planning and supporting special events
Serve as a resource for team members within the Director’s Office and Financial Operations Team
Special Projects
Participate in special projects and perform ad hoc analyses as required
Qualifications - Required
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required (Business, Finance, or related field preferred).
Minimum 3 years of administrative and/or financial management experience.
Skills and Competencies
Strong analytical and presentation skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint essential).
Familiarity with SAP is preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and problem-solve.
Exceptional customer service mindset.
Selected candidates will undergo a pre-employment background check and must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret-level DoD security clearance.
