BAE Systems Material Handler II (Onsite) in Lexington, Massachusetts

Job Description

Coordinates the internal flow of material and in process manufactured hardware to support manufacturing schedules and Operations commitments on engineering and production programs. Support the manufacturing process by performing inventory management and the associated material support and documentation maintenance activities.

Coordinates the verification, inspection, and receipt of incoming material to ensure timely delivery to designated areas. Visually checks all incoming material to verify quantity and for any damage to package or contents. Compares accompanying paperwork against contents and original purchasing records to confirm that the proper items have been received and inputs verification of same. Documents missing or damaged parts and completes necessary actions via computer inputs. Adheres to company guidelines regarding the proper handling of classified and/or hazardous materials. Routes packages according to inspection code. May assist in the delivery of packages throughout the facility, incorporating the use of manual equipment and hand tools to move heavy or awkward materials or packages.

Replenishes material for the manufacturing area and ensures proper levels of material are available when needed. Selects stock using first in-first out system. Interfaces with materials and production personnel to resolve materials shortages. Responds to requests for materials needed for engineering or production programs, works with Oracle and from computerized reports. Ensures that materials are properly packaged or repackaged per required special handling specifications, when necessary, in electrostatic bags or as otherwise specified. Labels and stocks in specified bins for the assembly floor. Performs daily cycle counts. Audits inventory records for accuracy on a regular basis. Checks actual stock against amounts recorded. Ensures that all required materials are properly identified with safety information and handling labels in conformance with Company and OSHA guidelines.

Perform a combination of manual and clerical shipping duties. Uses computer system for tracking, logging, verifying, and reporting. Follows shipping practices and procedures along with customer requirements to include transportation routing, schedules, and packaging requirements. Verifies quantity, and conformance of materials to stated identifications and documentation. Works with Oracle and other computer systems including both in-house programs and customer portals.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.

Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site.

This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Requires a High School education and a minimum of 2 years of related experience.

  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

  • Basic understanding of PC applications including Oracle and iStar.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $39820 - $63690

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
