MIT Lincoln Laboratory Microelectronics Senior Process Technician in Lexington, Massachusetts

The Quantum Information and Integrated Nanosystems Group conducts quantum information science research from a shared foundation of innovative control-signal design, outstanding fabrication tools, and well-equipped measurement infrastructure. The group has a broad range of experimental and prototyping activities. The group's quantum information science activities include the development of superconducting and trapped-ion qubits and quantum sensing with nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond. In addition, the group has robust capabilities in classical superconducting circuits and integrated photonics. These component technologies are used in synergy with quantum information science demonstrations, as well as in standalone applications that include beyond-CMOS circuit technologies, energy-starved sensors, compact optical communication and laser radar transceivers, and microwave photonic signal processing.

Job Description

The group seeks a full-time first shift technician to perform wafer fabrication, metrology, and testing tasks within a small team. These tasks will help develop and sustain microelectronics processes for experimental quantum computing applications.

Duties will include:

  • Cleanroom process execution in the areas of photo, etch, and metrology

  • Electronic measurements with a room temperature wafer prober

  • SPC work to understand and maintain standard processes and systems

  • Effective discernment and communication of processing issues to senior team members and run originators

    These duties will be performed primarily under the broad direction of scientific/engineering personnel; the successful candidate will need to execute tasks with little or no supervision. In addition to deep skills in the operation of complex microelectronic fabrication tools, the work will require familiarity with computer-operated systems, MES software, and a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows and Office software.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a two year day technical school or its equivalent in applicable experience, along with at least five years’ experience in microelectronic fabrication, is the minimum experience requirement.

  • A successful candidate will have extensive experience working in a cleanroom, knowledge of several semiconductor processing areas, high attention to detail, and the ability to dependably execute runs to plan.
