MIT Lincoln Laboratory Software Architect in Lexington, Massachusetts
The Bioanalytics Systems and Technologies Group focuses on driving analytics to take advantage of vast and rapidly expanding biological datasets to address national security needs. The Group’s efforts include developing software architectures and systems, bioinformatics tools, and AI algorithms to further the nation’s efforts in chemical and biological defense, biosecurity, public and global health and warfighter performance. Our multidisciplinary team works on integrating data from molecular/genomic levels to physiological system scales, while ensuring systems and data remain secure and private.
Job Description
The Bioanalytics and Systems Technologies Group is in search of an innovative and highly motivated data architect to execute and expand our efforts in architecting software solutions to develop platforms that support end to end development and validation of AI models for medical and health domains.
As a technical staff in this area, you will lead the effort to create and d rive full stack architecture solutions and innovations targeted towards applying MLOps, DataOps and DevSecOps for ongoing efforts to support an AI ready enterprise. You will lead and inspire a team of software developers and data engineers, work hand in hand with data scientists, and domain experts in biology, chemistry, and signal processing to address key national stakeholder needs and further the Group’s mission by developing and delivering the next generation software and information architectures for biomedical solutions.

You are results-driven and bring strong software architecture and engineering skills and a deep understanding of modern technologies including standards, APIs, AI, and ML. Requirements:
+ + Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Science, or related scientific field. In lieu of a Ph.D., a master’s or bachelor’s degree with relevant experience (5 + for master’s, 10+ for bachelor’s) is acceptable
Experience in Software life cycle development (SDLC)
Experience in building and architecting large scale applications and working hand in had with data architects for big data solution architectures
Delivery in an Agile, Lean, SAFe-based environment utilizing DevSecOps, ARTs, CI/CD, and related processes, methodologies, and concepts
Object Oriented Programming within a delivery team, as well as worked on a DevOps team that supported a set of engineers
Experience designing and implementing cloud hosted solutions leveraging API and Micro Services architectural frameworks
Knowledge of Database technology (SQL and NoSQL)
Requirements

Awareness of technology trends and a passion to stay abreast of emerging technologies
Organizational and transformational experience in an agile operating model
Establishes strategic technology direction and architecture vision for an organization
Strong proven Software Engineering experience
Developed technology target state, roadmaps that aligned to short- and long-term goals
Innovation and Continuous Improvement
Must be passionate about technology transformations
Requirements
+ + Has hands on experience in the last 3 years
Ability to work collaboratively and lead small to medium team of software developers and data scientists to execute your vision and software architecture.
Demonstrated development and clear presentation of technical materials to a wide spectrum of technical and non-technical audiences.
Occasional travel (<10%) with optional opportunities for travel.
Desired requirements:
Experience with biological and healthcare systems a plus.
Knowledge of standards such as FHIR a plus
Demonstrated skills in scientific writing.
