The Middlesex Corporation Director - Learning and Development in Littleton, Massachusetts
Position Summary:
The Director of Learning and Development is responsible for managing and supporting the organizational training needs of the company by designing, implementing, and evaluating programs that facilitate the professional development and continuous learning of all team members. Reporting to the Chief HR Officer, this role will make a positive difference in the lives of our team members and those we serve by leading the Learning and Development function to deliver training and professional development opportunities across the organization.
Responsibilities:
Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures including reporting all accidents, incidents, and near-misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value – Safety first, in everything we do.
Identify learning and development needs, recommend, and implement solutions, and evaluate and measure effectiveness.
Lead the development and continuous improvement of learning and development strategy ensuring strategic alignment with company goals.
Collaborate with HR team members and leaders across the company to understand their needs related to learning and development by proactively interfacing with key stakeholders to understand, recommend and deploy effective solutions.
Conduct assessments and analyses to define performance, skill, and knowledge gaps and recommend learning and development to drive individual and company-wide capability and performance improvement.
Design and develop programs and curriculum, partner with internal subject matter experts and/or external vendors to achieve defined learning and development objectives.
In consultation with company leadership, design, develop, and implement a leadership development program.
Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for learning and development programs.
Establish and maintain individual and organizational performance evaluation methods for learning content, delivery, activities, engagement, and outcomes. Utilize metrics to validate knowledge transfer and return on investment.
Managing the tracking of the continuing education and organizational training programs for all employees including staff training plans.
Qualifications:
Minimum of five years of experience in human resources or corporate training and development role is required.
Advanced degree in Adult Learning, Psychology, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or related field or PHR or SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP Certification with significant course work in learning and development is preferred.
General knowledge of heavy civil construction industry and the various craft and professional staff positions preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and able to learn new software programs.
Blended training experience including classroom, coaching, mentoring and technology-based learning.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically.
Comfortable managing difficult situations, showing a high level of professional maturity, resiliency, and adaptability.
Proven ability to develop strong, respectful relationships, to inspire confidence and to build trust.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal, customer service, time management, and project management skills.
Bi-lingual, fluency in Spanish is a plus.
