IBM Guardium Insights Performance Engineer in Littleton, Massachusetts

Your Role and Responsibilities

We are looking for an Performance Engineer to help improve the next generation of data security with IBM Security Guardium Insights. Guardium Insights simplifies an organization's data architecture, unifies visibility across data sources, and delivers long-term data security and compliance information to adhere to regulations and identify risk trends. As a part of Cloud Pak for Security, Guardium Insights is built as a collaborative, comprehensive data security platform to help to unify - and modernize - the security operations center (SOC). Embracing the power of Red Hat OpenShift, it can be flexibly deployed anywhere via microservice Kubernetes containers. Implemented using various development platforms including Go, Java, NodeJS and delivered via Docker images, developers work in a state of the art product development environment.

In this role you will be responsible for the following:

We are seeking a Performance Engineer to help improve the scalability and performance of Guardium Insights. The Performance Engineer will work in tandem with development and QA teams to help coordinate and align on work items aimed at improving the overall performance of Guardium Insights. As a Performance Engineer you will be working to investigate bottlenecks and implement remediation strategies to meet our key performance objectives around ingestion, reporting, performance monitoring and scalability. You will work with the Performance team to carry out and review test results as well as identify opportunities for performance optimizations. Additionally, you will work alongside the Performance team to put together a series of benchmarks and best practices to help devise a performance strategy, identify and mitigate performance risks, and further optimize our data ingestion and reporting pipelines to improve overall data throughput.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 3-5 years of experience in performance measurements, analysis, and monitoring.

  • Experience with performance testing frameworks.

  • Solid understanding of Docker, Kubernetes deployment environment on an OpenShift environment.

  • Solid understanding and experience with database technologies for SQL (such as DB2) and NoSQL (such as MongoDB) databases.

  • Solid understanding and experience developing new APIs and working with existing APIs and extending existing APIs.

  • Experience Troubleshooting Difficult Technical Problems.

  • Experience with networks (Internet Protocols).

  • Familiarity with Agile/DevOps Methodologies.

  • Communication Skills.

  • Familiarity with Cloud.

  • Experience with Tools Like Slack, GitHub, Jira.

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Experience working with statistical modeling tools.

  • Experience working with queuing models will be a plus.

  • Ability to visualize datasets to extract meaningful insights from measurements will be a plus.

  • Experience in tuning performance of parallel and multiprocessing systems.
