Job Overview

This position facilitates the Quality Improvement process with the Medical staff, Nursing, and the Ancillary departments of the hospital. Knowledgeable of the philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures of Quality Improvement program and provides recommendations for implementation.

Location: Lowell General Hospital - 295 Varnum Avenue - Lowell, MA

Hours: 40 hours - days/evenings with rotating weekends

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Health Administration, or another health-related field.

  2. Massachusetts RN Licensure or LPN Licensure.

  3. Five (5) years of nursing experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities listed below are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  1. Utilizes the Quality Improvement methodology for monitoring and Performance Improvement.

  2. Understands and utilizes the Quality Improvement tools for improvement and Risk Management Theory for improvement.

  3. Formats data for ease in understanding and presenting.

  4. Applies statistical measures to data collection.

  5. Understands reliability and validity concepts and applications.

  6. Assists with the design of data collection methodologies.

  7. Receives and reviews all variance reports generated by variance reporting process for the system.

  8. Reviews medical records for quality issues and, as appropriate, refers for physician review.

  9. Collaborates with other members of System Quality Team and Departments to improve Quality.

  10. Communicates effectively with staff at all levels of the organization.

  11. Offers input and ideas for Quality Improvement Risk Management activities.

  12. Supports improvements in policies, procedures, and practices.

  13. Assists in the collection of QA/QI data.
