Eliot Community Human Services Inc Forensic PACT Specialist III in Lowell, Massachusetts

Eliot is currently seeking a Forensic Behavioral Health Specialist III for the new Lowell Forensic Program for Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) Team. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the unique needs and history/background of the population and have the ability to develop and maintain clear and therapeutic boundaries. A proven experience in community-based work with adults with severe and persistent mental illness are a must. PACT is an evidenced based multidisciplinary outreach mental program that serves adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses in the community. PACT staff work as a team to collaborate with consumers to develop treatment interventions that assist them in their recovery process. Qualifications: Must have a bachelor\'s degree in psychology, criminal justice, social work or related field with at least two years of experience with population. Must have the skills to establish supportive relationships with adults with mental illness who have limited social skills and experiences with histories of unsuccessful community tenure that can be due to minimal community exposure as a result of long term hospitalizations or incarcerations; who have extensive criminal justice involvement (e.g. multiple Section 35\'s, problematic sexual behaviors, assaults and other criminal arrests); Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with consumers, staff, co-workers and supervisor. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and cultural groups. Ability to work a flexible work schedule contingent upon program needs. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with periods of high stress. Responsibilities: Provide side by side interventions to consumers that focus on problem solving, skills training, modeling behavior, optimism and encouragement. Assist the team and consumers in providing on-going assessment of symptoms and responses to staff interventions. Promote opportunities to participate in pro-social activities and interpersonal skill development. Participate in the development of IAP\'s (Individualized Action Plans). Promote consumers preferences and goals. Assist in identifying strengths, cultural preferences and motivations relates to goals. Provide interventions related to consumers IAP and as assigned by supervisor. Provide interventions that are inclusive of consumer preferences, cultural desires and community resources. Provide assistance to consumers related to transportation to court, work sites, court mandated treatment, probation/parole meetings, daily activities, appointments or as needed/directed by supervisor. Attend and participate in any and all on-site trainings related to working with this specific population of consumers. Provide outreach support services to forensic PACT clients and medication supports as needed to clients living interpedently in the community.
