Serco provides satellite communications (SATCOM), radar modernization, operations and maintenance, and sustainment services that enable customers to extend the lives of existing systems and achieve phased upgrades with new technology to enhance operational capability. Serco specializes in areas including obsolescence engineering, systems engineering services, test equipment design and build, and field engineering services, and maintains a near-field and compact antenna test range at Ludlow.

This Mechanical Engineer Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as fixturing and customer deliverables. Conducts product testing and creates models and prototypes. May be involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of mechanical products.

In this role, you will:

  • Have oversight of ESS (Environmental Stress Screening), including Thermal cycling and Vibration Testing

  • Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies for DoD equipment in accordance with system requirements and TDP information

  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines including purchasing and program management, and suppliers, to develop design solutions, resolve technical challenges, and overcome TDP issues.

  • Support development, evaluation, and analysis of mechanical designs for deliverable items and internal fixturing.

  • Technical Documentation creation, release, and change incorporation including models, drawings, parts lists, procedures…etc.

  • Support the production floor on a regular basis, documenting issues, providing status and participate in Open Item meetings and resolutions.

  • Utilize SOLIDWORKS for modeling and documentation creation

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years relevant industry experience or Associate Degree with 4-6 years of relevant experience.

  • US Citizen

  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance after hire.

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks

  • Proficiency in Technical Data Package Reading and Comprehension
