Job Description Summary

Join the Military Integrated Performance and Operability team as sub-section manager for Turbofan and Turbojet Performance Engineering, responsible for the technical and program execution of F404, F414, and derivative engines. Leading this diverse team encompasses NPI, Production, Component Improvement Programs, Sustainment, and Field Integration, while supporting fleet operations for both domestic and international customers. You will integrate robust performance and operability processes in the design, creation, and optimization of systems, consisting of identification and quantification of system requirements, creation of alternate system design concepts, performance of design trade studies, selection and implementation of the best designs and verification that the design is properly integrated and executed. Your leadership will prioritize Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost to drive excellence in our operations.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Operations Management:

  • Formulate and implement plans to meet technical and program requirements, schedules, and contract commitments.

  • Identify staffing needs and ensure teams are aligned with program objectives.

  • Manage resources, scope, budget, and proposal delivery.

  • Integrate processes to meet customer and business needs to contribute to long-term planning and business strategy.

  • People Leadership:

  • Provide clear vision and strategic direction for the team.

  • Foster the development and growth of a diverse team through effective career coaching, mentoring, and conducting performance evaluations.

  • Organize and prioritize team tasks and individual goals to achieve overall objectives.

  • Coach and support the team in resolving problems and managing conflicts effectively using Flight Deck Fundamentals

  • Technical Management:

  • Provide resources and coaching to ensure performance and operability requirements meet airframer and end user needs.

  • Provide resources and coaching so that the team can effectively contribute to delivery of customer solutions that properly balance cost and performance (including architecture, key design trade-offs, flow-down of requirements and flow-up of capability).

  • Manage relevant technical program requirements and programs risks.

  • Contribute to research, design, development, and enhancement of technologies in the areas of performance, operability, and cost optimization aligned with customer needs and technology roadmaps.

  • Define and conduct testing of equipment and/or entire engine systems, identifying the best testing strategy and measurement system.

  • Report performance with respect to the guaranteed values in accordance with industry codes and standards.

  • Horizontal Leadership:

  • Lead across engineering disciplines and business divisions, as necessary.

  • Take ownership of enterprise processes, tools, and lean initiatives.

  • Lead initiatives in performance and operability related disciplines.

  • Communication and Accountability:

  • Provide resources and coaching to ensure the team delivers clear and insightful presentations to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Accountable for executing, monitoring and communicating project status and significant developments with section leadership

  • Address customer and business issues proactively and effectively.

  • Communicate effectively with management on technical, organizational, resource, and personnel matters.

  • Documentation and Compliance:

  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data consistent with engineering policies.

  • Ensure company compliance initiatives and training requirements are implemented within team

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, or Mathematics from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a people leader or program leadership role.

Desired Characteristics

  • Prior people leader experience.

  • Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Engine Performance, Operability, Controls, Performance Methods, or related discipline.

  • Experience in legacy product support, NPI certification/qualification, and technology development.

  • Engine test experience.

  • Demonstrated systems thinking capability.

  • Experience working with DoD customer and processes.

  • Experience with GE Aerospace financial and program management tools.

  • Strong track record of customer facing relationship building.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead by influence.

  • Champion of a lean culture.
