GE Aerospace RISE Open Rotor Systems Airworthiness Engineer in Lynn, Massachusetts

Job Description Summary

The RISE Open Rotor Systems Airworthiness Engineering position is a leadership role for the baseline engine configuration. The intent is to identify the requirements and methods of compliance required to demonstrate and mature the technology to be incorporated into the fielded product configuration. The results from the demonstrator will be used to validate models and verify the ability to meet regulatory certification requirements.

This is a joint demonstrator engine program in support of CFMI. The goal is to provide a quality product that meets the airframe's needs. Verification the design is properly integrated and executed. Collaborating with the cross functional teams and our CFM partners is essential for the success of the program.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Risk and Requirements Management (Technical Requirements, Propulsion System Architecture Document and Risk Registry).

  • Utilize DOORS Next Gen and CAMEO to document and manage requirements.

  • Ensure traceability of requirements to a Model-Based Systems Engineering approach.

  • Lead Validation and Verification (V&V) activities with the Airframer(s).

  • Communicate technical risks internally and externally to inform decisions.

  • Interface with technology maturation activity/focal to ensure connectivity between risks and risk burndown plans.

  • Interact with Qualification authorities to ensure product requirements will meet certification objectives.

  • Execute required action plans needed to resolve system-level requirement issues.

  • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues.

  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Some travel will be required to support the program, as well as interfacing with our CFM partner.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or a similar discipline focused on mechanical or aerothermal design) from an accredited college or university.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering position

  • Ability and willingness to travel as required to support the RISE program, as well as interfacing with our CFM partner.
