Lead Piping Designer

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) provides holistic and value-added solutions across the entire asset life cycle. These include world-class licensed process technologies, differentiated advisory services, deep technical domain expertise, energy transition solutions, high-end design capabilities, and smart solutions to optimize planned and operating assets.

KBR is looking for a Sr. Piping Designer to serve as a technical specialist who makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have a far-reaching impact on extensive engineering and related activities of the company. You will negotiate critical and controversial issues with top-level engineers and officers of other organizations and companies. You will perform advisory and consulting work for the organization as a recognized authority for broad program areas or in an intensely specialized area.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for design, specification and services related to piping systems and piping layout including piping material selection, piping material line classes, standard and specialty piping components, pressure, weight and thermal analysis of piping systems, vibration analysis and piping support systems.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience

  • Proficiency with 2D MicroStation or AutoCAD is required.

  • 3D Piping software (PDMS or PDS) preferred.

  • Smart Plant experience preferred.

  • Chemical plant experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is located at a chemical plant and requires exposure to ambient temperature extremes.

  • Work may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, and steel-toed boots.

  • Day-to-day physical requirements involve standard office activities including sitting/standing for extended periods of time, attending meetings, use of keyboard and mouse repetitively, lifting and carrying less than 20 lbs. frequently, etc.

  • Work requires moderate physical exertion including walking to operating areas and walking upstairs.

  • May require walking the plant property.
