Job Summary:

The Systems Engineering Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within Raytheon, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).

The Radar Systems (RS) Department is seeking a talented Systems Engineer to join the SPY-6 Systems Engineering Integration and Test (SEIT) organization to lead the Anti-Air Warfare (AAW) Mission Area team. This position can be located in either Tewksbury or Marlborough, MA location, requires daily on-site support and is not open to hybrid or remote possibilities.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • The ability to organize a team of engineers across multiple disciplines for a common goal – provide clear tasking; to include new capability design and development support, defect correction, integration and verification across all SPY-6 variants

  • Coordinates with the SPY-6 program leadership team, across variants, to align on priorities and resources required

  • Ability to present difficult topics to both internal and external stakeholders – able to communicate effectively

  • Developing or identifying tools capable of clearly demonstrating AAW performance compliance in addition to identifying problems and solutions to observed issues

  • Experience with identifying target scenarios that sufficiently model a specific threat, target density, clutter and/or weather environment of interest – supports Design validation through Capability Integration

  • Ability to coordinate across Product Line Teams (Software, other SEIT Mission Areas, Modeling and Simulation (M&S) and Requirements) to align on common solutions and ensure coordinated efforts

Work is performed in a dynamic and collaborative development environment in support of multiple research and development efforts, working with internal and external customers across related product lines.

Qualification You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 5 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience with design, development, and analysis of radar system and software architectures

  • Design, implementation and testing of algorithms for detection, discrimination and tracking systems

  • Experience with MATLAB or data analysis

  • Experience in systems engineering, systems integration, verification, and validation

  • An active and in-scope Secret US security clearance

Qualification We Value:

  • Experience developing Concepts of Operations for radar systems

  • Development and decomposition of radar system hardware and software requirements

  • Familiarity with filtering algorithms and radar processing algorithm development

  • Ability to perform statistical modeling of radar signals and analyze detection and track performance

  • Strong background in modeling and assessing threat air and ground, RF, and advanced weapon system concept performance

  • Experience with signal processing techniques in complex propagation environments

  • Experience communicating solutions to complex user requirements with internal and external stakeholders

  • Experience with digital beamforming, adaptive cancellation techniques, clutter filtering and Doppler processing, ambiguity resolution, maximum likelihood estimation, CFAR processing

  • Tracking technique development and simulation tool familiarization

  • Tracking subsystem/system development and integration experience

  • Familiarity with beamforming architectures and techniques

  • Ability to design and analyze multi-target track filtering algorithms

  • Experience with RF Systems Engineering including knowledge of RF performance analysis

  • Familiarity with the Navy, Air Force and Army Customers

  • Experienced with completing designs on schedule and within budget

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
