Sumitomo Pharma America Holdings, Inc. Tax Internship in Marlborough, Massachusetts

This summer internship will offer college and university students an amazing opportunity to gain hands on experience within the pharmaceutical industry. This program allows students to work closely with business leaders while obtaining industry insight. Interns will be tasked with both individual and group projects. The Internship Program will offer additional workshops and seminars for your career and professional development. We are seeking talented individuals within multiple areas across the organization.

Company Overview:

Sumitomo Pharma America Holdings, Inc.(SMPA) supports certain affiliates of Sumitomo Pharma Group by providing professional shared services expertise to achieve greater efficiencies and enable discovery, development and commercialization of innovative treatments to help patients.

Specific Internship Description:

SMPA Tax Department is seeking an intern to assist in the FY22 income tax extensions calculations and tax return filings by:

Ensuring state apportionment is finalized

Formulating data using existing spreadsheets and methodologies and provision files

Updating and reviewing NOLs available

Updating payments on account

Performing cross-references to source data, reconciling output and preparing for manager review

Maintaining organized support files for permanent/audit records

Learning Goals:

Learn workload prioritization skills

Effective time management to meet deadlines

Enhanced MS Excel skills to use and expand spreadsheets

Develop written and verbal communication skills with all levels of business partners

Gain insight into accounting, finance and tax operations

Begin to understand and apply federal, state and local tax corporate tax concepts

Learn various corporate and tax related software programs

Learn self review and cross-referencing techniques used in work product submissions

Minimum Requirements:

Enrolled in Undergraduate degree program in Accounting, Tax

Must have completed their sophomore year of study

Authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship

Abide by corporate policies, work in professional environment and meet deadlines

Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word.)

Strong communication skills and passion for continued development

  • Covid-19 Vaccinations are required

Program Details:

Position will begin on Monday June 5, 2023

Position is located remotely in the US

Position is full-time Monday through Friday – up to 40 hours per week

Candidates should be available to commit to 10 weeks
