Alphabroder Inventory Control/Inbound Supervisor in Middleboro, Massachusetts

Position Summary

First Shift 4am-12:30pm

Supervise the daily functions of the Inventory Control and Inbound Departments. Play a key role in maintaining a high level of inventory integrity. Ensure timely accurate cycle counts, receipt, put away, replenishment and stock moves. Plan for short-term inventory and stock related issues, analyze data, define problems, draw valid conclusions, and make changes or recommendations for improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and prioritize Inventory Control and Inbound employee activities according to department guidelines and DC goals. Assign employees to tasks according to daily volume as well as department needs and standards.

  • Supervise employees on cycle counting, auditing, inventory research and reconciliation, stock adjustments, quality inspections, customer returns, mill returns, warehouse transfers, posting of receipts and shortage desk.

  • Maintain the integrity of the facilitys inventory through reconciliation of the physical to perpetual inventory, including balancing the inventory between the ERP and WMS, review of inventory transactions and analysis of inventory variances. Seek opportunities to drive continuous improvement.

  • Supervise inbound staff on vendor and transfer receipts, mapping ASNs, handling receipt discrepancies and put away of product. Ensure accurate and proper placement of all incoming merchandise.

  • Manage replenishment activities, including top off, to ensure pick bins are full to support the needs of picking.

  • Coordinate slotting activities based on business volume and building needs.

  • Train new and incumbent employees on systems, procedures, policies, and job skills needed to successfully perform their job. Assist in updating or developing training materials or plans.

  • Establish controls to audit key functions of the Inventory Control and Inbound Departments. Audit to established standards to ensure accuracy, compliance to procedures and timely updates. Ensure required month/year end close tasks are completed on time.

  • Research inventory discrepancies and issues in all modules in IRMS and FDM4 to determine root causes. Communicate with Accounting, Purchasing, Operations, other Inventory Departments, and local DC Management to resolve issues as needed.

  • Maintain open communication with your manager, sharing any employee concerns, safety issues, suggestions or issues that may jeopardize the departments goals.

  • Provide support to your manager by creating or maintaining documents, reports, graphs, and charts using Word, Excel, Business Objects, or other PC based software.

  • Coach employees, write and present performance appraisals, maintain employee records related to attendance, productivity and quality, interview for open positions, and share consistent, timely performance feedback.

  • Hold regularly scheduled department meetings. Share feedback with your manager.

  • Develop and maintain a work environment, which assures compliance with all safety policies and identify areas of concern.

  • Promote employee inclusion, recognition, effective communication, and foster an atmosphere of harmony and cooperation within and between departments.

  • Ensure that staff has proper training, certification, and access to necessary tools to perform their daily assigned tasks.

  • Work with external auditors when testing integrity of the inventory and procedures are adhered to.

  • Work with local Deco management/coordinators to ensure inventory is maintained in both Deco and Parent DC (when applicable).

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 2 3 years experience in inventory control and distribution processes, preferably in a supervisory capacity.

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.

  • Strong knowledge of inventory and distribution practices, procedures, and systems.

  • Experience with cycle count and receiving practices and procedures in a distribution environment.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail with high degree of accuracy.

  • Strong interpersonal skills including the demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships at various organization levels.

  • Strong team building and motivation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to delegate effectively and to prioritize tasks to meet department objectives.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time.

  • Ability to define and understand problems, collect data, establish facts, and analyze findings to draw valid conclusions and recommend changes or solutions.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Understanding of basic accounting principals and Sarbanes Oxley compliance.

  • Flexibility with work schedule; available to support several shifts, work weekends as needed and travel occasionally.

  • Ability to successfully manage within deadlines.

  • Proficient with PC software such as Excel and Word.
