Waters Director, Shared Service Transformation in Milford, Massachusetts

The Director of ServiceTransformation will drive the strategic plan for the Finance Service Infrastructure design/operation and plays a key role in setting strategy for Global Business Services (GBS). The Director of Service Infrastructure acts as an owner for all aspects of Service Infrastructure (ensuring timeliness and completeness) for Waters’ Global Business Services group. Components of the Service Infrastructure include:

  • Refining the mission, objectives and processes for the GBS Governance Model

  • Performance Management

  • Service Management

  • Request Management

  • Knowledge Management

  • Solution and Transition Management

  • Business Continuity

  • Branding/Communications.

  • Coaching other critical service infrastructure workstreams (e.g. Talent management and Finance)

The Service Infrastructure (SI) Leader also fosters team professional development through mentoring and coaching resources on Shared Service methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of Shared Services Infrastructure to build the Global Business Services organization

  • Drive the design of the Service Infrastructure for Waters'. Develop the GBS roadmap by leveraging leading practices, monitoring performance metrics, and benchmarking performance across Global Business Services Industry Standards.

  • Lead the GBS organizational assessment across the Global Finance organization. Define the Service roadmap for Waters GBS operation. Direct management of the budget for the assessment project

  • Manage the 'run' for Service Infrastructure

  • Drive the prioritization and reporting of the Service Infrastructure portfolio

  • Establish the GBS governance meetings. Ensure timely compilation of all GBS governance metrics for monthly and quarterly meetings

  • Act as owner of Service Infrastructure materials (ensuring completeness and timeliness)

  • Track the earned value model for GBS within Finance

  • Manage regular communications and training to the shared services team

Leadership

  • Ability to influence and inspire a cross-functional global team

  • Motivate, mentor and teach others the principles and tools of Service Infrastructure with the ability to share examples across end-to-end processes, offer alternatives, and provide constructive feedback to create a culture of continuous improvement throughout Waters

  • Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.

  • Demonstrate proficiency effectively presenting complex topics in an easy-to-understand manner and facilitating meetings with with Sr. Directors, Vice Presidents, and Business owners

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

  • The position requires strong collaborative, communication and change management skills

  • Global awareness and sensitive to multiple cultures

Business Partnership

  • Work with businesses and other shared service leaders across the organization to proactively identify, prioritize, facilitate and lead Service infrastructure improvement initiatives

  • Partner with Waters executives to develop the GBS Value Story, educate constituents on the GBS value proposition.

  • Act as a coordination point for the Global Process Owners and other functional owners for all aspects of Service Infrastructure

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities at the present time.

Travel

  • This position requires travel to other domestic and international office sites as needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA Preferred. Accounting or related discipline

  • Approximately 15+ years of experience in finance and Shared Services.

  • Experience in a global, dynamic and deadline driven environment.

  • Experience with Internal Controls and SOX/404 requirements.

  • Experience in process design and implementation within a financial software packages (ideally SAP).

  • Demonstrated experience in process management (in particular KPI and benchmarking).

  • Experience of working in different international geographical regions preferred.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Primary Expert on all details regarding the Shared Services Infrastructure

  • Prior Robotic Process Automation (RPA) experience

  • Experience in Process Mapping and Change Management
