State of Massachusetts Program Coordinator I - Data Analyst in Milford, Massachusetts

Program Coordinator I Duties – Office of Strategic Planning and Research – Data Analytics Unit: The Program Coordinator I – Data Analyst position will be part of theData Analytics Unit (DAU),reporting to a Program Coordinator II/III andDirector of Data Analytics Unit within the Office of Strategic Planning and Research. The Office of Strategic Planning and Research, composed of the Data Analytics Unit (DAU) and Research & Planning Division,provides statistics, research, and evaluation results to guide planning, management and decision-making strategies for effective prison operations, policies, legislation, and services. The DAUserves as a knowledge hub, supporting incarcerated individuals’ data, analytics projects, information requests, research, and publicly available mandated data reports and briefs,conducts analytics projects and creates Tableau dashboard reporting systems for Massachusetts Department of Correction (MA DOC). The Program Coordinator I – Data Analyst is responsible for data preparation, data auditing, data analysis, writing briefs and conducting research data projects. The Program Coordinator I – Data Analyst will be able to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and meet high standards for data organization, auditing, quality, and security.Candidates will possess the ability to assess, analyze and meet needs of stakeholder requests to create data sets, utilizing software including Tableau Dashboard Technology, Excel, SQL, TOAD for Data Point, or SPSS. Experience with these programs is highly desired. This position requires the ability to complete independent work and also contribute to team-based work, adhere to instructions, and prior experience prioritizing simultaneous projects with competing deadlines. We are looking for a team-oriented specialist with data collection and analysis experience, able to present business intelligence findings. Prompt communication via email and organizational skills are fundamental for success in this position. Experience in and knowledge of criminal justice, social and data sciences or a related field is advantageous. Preferred Skills: · Experience with Tableau or other dashboard software · Skilled in SQL and data query and extract tools, querying relational databases · Experience within Excel and techniques in charts, graphs, and pivot tables · Experience organizing and auditing large quantities of data for analysis · Strong judgment, analytic reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills · Strong communication skills; ex: frequent, clear, efficient, and responsive communication via email (Outlook) · Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively · Ability to adapt to fast paced, evolving requirements, including learning new applications and new systems · Ability to balance multiple and competing priorities and deadlines · Excellent organizational skills Comments: This is a Civil Service position. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement. The Massachusetts Department of Correction shall not hire anyone who may have direct contact with offenders, who has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other institution as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997; or has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in the above paragraph. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional, administrative or managerial experience in business administration, business management or public administration the major duties of which involved program management, program administration, program coordination, program planning and/or program analysis, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below. Substitutions: I. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in business administration, business management or public administration may be substituted for the required experience.* II.
