Beth Israel Deaconess Milton is seeking a full-time, Lead Public Safety Officer.

Hours per week: 40

Position Summary:

Reporting to the BID Milton Manager, Public Safety this position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout the BID Milton Hospital areas by possessing a safety centric mindset with a focus on customer service and RESPECT standards. It is considered a working lead, however performs a wide variety of supervisory, inspection and scheduling functions along with general security functions.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for scheduling, shift coverage for Public Safety Officers and contract security officers to ensure 24 hour coverage.

Oversees, distributes and assigns shift tasks such as post assignments, ID badge, parking lot audits, code drills and unit tabletops, lost and found inspections, and conducts shift briefings.

Reviews cameras, daily activity reports and patrol tours, analyzes data and provides monthly reports.

Collects and archives weekly site incident statistics.

Assists in the development, rollout and ongoing compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

Provide coverage at the Public Safety Communications Center.

Attend meetings and trainings related to the role; such as Workplace Violence Committees, Safety Committee, Emergency Management Committee and associated trainings.

Maintains open communication and professional relationships with internal and external partners.

Acts as a liaison between the hospital and local emergency services

Assist the Manager, Public Safety in the operational efficiency of the Public Safety Department.

Responsible for the support of all Public Safety and security officers on assigned shift

Perform 1:1 Patient Watches to ensure the safety of the respective patient and staff when required

Tours the facility and reports any applicable security and/or safety issues

Respond and assist to all emergencies, codes and/or calls for assistance

De-escalate crisis situations utilizing verbal de-escalation techniques and when ordered assist in the application of physical safety restraints

Any and all duties requested by BID-Milton Hospital Manager, Safety and Security

Qualifications

Education:

1-2 years of formal training or education in specialty or related specialty beyond the high school level. Associate’s degree or higher preferred.

Experience:

Demonstrated ability to effectively lead a team as well as being a team member. 2+ years previous/current law enforcement, military and/or hospital security experience in a supervisory role required. Knowledge of Joint Commission Environment of Care and Life Safety standards related to Security.

Skills:

Have the ability to effectively speak, read and write English.

Have strong overall computer skills and demonstrate strong skills in Microsoft Suite

Thorough working knowledge of hospital, security and/or public safety operations required.

Have a working knowledge and literacy of CCTV, ID badging and Access Control Systems (CCure 9000)

Ability to use a telephone, public safety radio and communications and dispatch software

Possess the flexibility to work a variety of shifts in a given schedule period to include overtime as needed

Possess the ability to handle private information with discretion and in accordance with all applicable Hospital, State & Federal guidelines.

Possess working knowledge of Hospital Incident Command System (HICS)

Meet all requirements of the Public Safety Officer position.

Ability to maintain security, certifications and licensures.

Competent to ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws, hospital policies and procedures

Strong writing skills to provide and maintain documentation to support data.

Registration/Certification

AVADE de-escalation training program instructor certification preferred.

American Heart Association BLS CPR certification

Mass License to Carry- Class A Unrestricted

SSPO Certification or eligibility required

Maintain active MA operator’s license
