As scrum master you will support the Foundation Services Applications group, a team passionate for technology that strives to build well architected and innovative solutions for MathWorks staff. This group supports applications including HR, recruiting, facilities management, learning management, work management and IT service management to name a few.
Coaches the Product Owner, Development Team, Technology and Business Leaders on Scrum values, principles, and best practices
Facilitates all scrum ceremonies as requested or required
Understands product planning in an inspect and adapt environment, and ensures the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value
Uses data and metrics to provide information regarding team health: people, process, progress and overall satisfaction to Technology and Business Leaders
Removes impediments for the team and escalates appropriately
Coordinates activities leading up to a release to ensure teams are aligned
Assesses the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coach the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organization
Networks with other IT scrum masters and agile teams to share and improve agile practices within the organization.
Partners with the product owner on project intake and quarterly product roadmap planning sessions; communicates status of projects and releases as needed
- A bachelor's degree and 7 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 5 years of professional work experience, or equivalent experience) is required.
3+ years of experience as a scrum master in a software development or IT organization
Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continuous improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum framework
High level of energy, determination, and perseverance, knowing when to take a position and discuss and when to back off in a demanding organization.
Collaborative in driving decisions.
Works well under pressure and can shift readily between the big picture and the small but crucial details, knowing when to focus on each.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
Experience with Jira and Confluence
