The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Temporary Part-Time Nutritional Epidemiology Statistician (REMOTE) to support our government customer located in Natick, MA. This position is 100% telework.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and provide a subject matter expert in the analysis and interpretation of very large nutrition and health databases including National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).

  • Conduct analyses of complex, very large nutrition and health databases including NHANES using the SAS and SUDAAN computer software and provide the results and interpretation of these analyses.

  • Investigate the relationship of macro- and micronutrient intake to a variety of physiological markers and health outcomes using large national databases.

  • Investigate the relationship of dietary supplement intake to various health outcomes using large national databases.

  • Conduct circadian rhythm analyses using least square multiple regression procedures on very large epidemiological datasets.

  • Use the National Cancer Institute (NCI) method to estimate individual usual intake of various components of the diet.

  • Account for the complex design of nutrient and health databases by adjusting for oversampling to ensure the results are nationally representative.

  • Conduct complex statistical analyses of nutritional variable, physiological markers and health outcomes that simultaneously account for the effects various demographic factors such as age and body weight.

  • Conduct analyses of individual health behaviors survey data gathered in an epidemiological study using the SAS and SUDAAN computer software and provide the results and interpretation of these analyses..

    REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Scientific, Biostatistics, Environmental Medicine, or Public Health. Master’s in Biostatistics, Environmental Medicine, or Public Health preferred.

    REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledgeable in a relevant field of the life sciences and have desired experience working in a research laboratory.

  • Have demonstrated their subject matter expertise in a number of areas, and their ability to conduct team-based research through publication of several technical reports and/or peer-reviewed publications.

  • Desires experience in the development of medical products for licensure by the FDA. Desires experience managing a research laboratory, including technicians and other junior scientists.

  • Experience using SAS.

  • Expected to execute assigned tasks, and to share findings with other members of the project team.

  • Desires excellent written and oral communication skills, and the contractor is expected to write reports and publications, and present their findings in meetings.

  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks.

    DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-5 years’ experience in supporting environmental medicine research studies, preferably within a Military environment.

  • 2-5 years’ experience providing scientific and technical research support to Federal and/or DoD customers.

  • Experience with SUDAAN computer software.
