The Senior Director, Human Resources will serve as a key HR business partner for the group functional leaders of Quality, IT, HR, Finance, Strategy and Global Capacity Planning and Engineering functions of the PSG Business Group of Thermo Fisher Scientific. This position can significantly contribute to the division’s productivity and innovation through activities such as talent acquisition and development, strategic leadership consultation, partnership and advice.
Strategic Planning, Organizational Development and Design– Supports multi-functional objectives by creating plans to support the growth of the business in key areas such as organizational design, recruitment, talent development strategies, succession planning, and total rewards.
Partners with functional leadership to assure successful implementation of functional group strategy throughout the globe.
Takes accountability for ensuring that site specific plans are implemented in an efficient and effective manner.
Management Coaching– Provides support and guidance to functional leadership teams by recommending appropriate actions to support best practices to enable the business
Leadership and Supervision– Leads, mentors, develops and provides ongoing guidance and direction for the site based HR teams on daily work activities.
Provides training and technical advice to the HR team in various areas of regulatory compliance; takes care of HR developmental path and nurture the internal growth of the HR team members; monitors and provides guidance as needed to the areas of site payroll and benefits.
Talent Acquisition and Development– Actively involved on an ongoing basis in the search for key functional talent.
Supports talent development and acquisition by ensuring HR staff are compliant and following all steps in the recruitment and selection process from advertising through interviewing, testing and reference checking.
Assures clear communication and early escalation of issues; works well in a matrixed relationship reporting in to PSG Human Resources and Group Functional Leaders
Employee relations – is responsible for employee engagement and (where applicable) works council and union relationships
B.A. or B.S. degree in Business, Human Resources or equivalent related education and experience and, master’s level preferred
Direction of 8 or more sites having significant effect on the organization, complex site(s) and projects;
Alignment of processes and procedures across regional sites/designated geography;
Leader of global – multi/sites leadership team;
Being responsible for HR deliverables, effective partnering and consistency/success of all sites within their scope;
The position establishes strategy and direction for Group Functions;
Adhere to OHS policies and procedures and ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment
