Seven Hills Foundation Brain Injury Community Center (BICC) Program Staff in New Bedford, Massachusetts

The BICC Program Staff will provide coaching and support to adults with acquired brain injuries participating in a membership-based clubhouse rehabilitation program. Members and staff work side-by-side, building on members’ strengths and abilities, to develop meaningful social relationships, secure/retain employment, live independently, maintain and pursue educational goals, improve health/wellness, and to enjoy their lives.

  • Train, model, and work side-by-side with clients in job and living skills in a community environment (including combination of on-site and virtual supports).

  • Delivers appropriate services provided to members in life and job skills such as social appropriateness, compensatory strategies, orientation and mobility in the community, employability and work behaviors, behavior and crisis management, specific job tasks and development of natural supports on job sites, in the home, and community

  • Follows appropriate policies and procedures in compliance with current Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission and industry-specific accreditation standards (e.g., International Brain Injury Clubhouse Alliance Standards).

Additional Responsibilities:

  • To carry out all responsibilities professionally and efficiently.

  • Work hours follow normal weekday schedule with occasional evenings/weekends on a rotating schedule.

  • Minimal travel utilizing agency vehicles

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to drive.

  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs. on occasion.

  • Ability to perform primary job functions while standing for extended periods of time.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with people with disabilities, preferably individuals with acquired brain injuries.

  • Experience assisting people with disabilities to obtain and/or maintain employment preferred (including job coaching).

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, rehabilitation or a health or human service-related field preferred.

  • Ability to effectively support people with disabilities using positive interaction strategies focusing on client strengths and abilities.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in groups or teams toward a common goal.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual highly preferred.

  • Proficiency with basic computer skills.
