Ahead, INC. Embroidery Machine Operator - 1st in New Bedford, Massachusetts
The Embroidery Machine Operator is responsible for operating 2, 6, or 18 head embroidery machines to accurately embroider logos and appliqu?s on garments and headwear. The Embroidery Machine Operator is responsible for quality while ensuring on-time delivery. 1st shift is Monday thru Friday 7 AM - 3:30 PM and 2nd shift is 3:30 PM - 12 AM Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare machine by placing spools of thread, inserting bobbins, changing and threading needles; securing attachments. Remove garment or headwear from box and secure on embroidery hoop. Place hooped headwear or garment on machine; position under needles. Start and operate or tend machine. Adjust machine performance by adjusting settings, thread and bobbin tensions. Monitor machine operation to detect problems such as machine malfunctions, defective stitching, or breaks in thread. Tie thread on back of machine. Remove hooped garment or headwear from machine. Maintain quality by inspecting finished product. Place hooped garment or headwear in box. Ensure operation of machine by completing preventive maintenance requirements. Additional as assigned. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Manufacturing experience. Skills/Qualifications Ability to follow verbal directions. Ability to read instructions in English. Ability to solve problems. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to perform quality control. Ability to operate a CNC Sewing Machine. Physical Demands Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Repetitive use of hands, fingers and arms. Ability to demonstrate fine dexterity skills. Ability to move about the facility. Ability to climb, bend, reach, kneel and crouch. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed. Vision Requirements Close and distance vision. Vision to be able to thread a needle. Color vision. Work Environment Exposure to loud noise level. Personal Protective Equipment Safety Glasses (as needed). Sign-on Bonus Plan for New Hires: 1st shift new hires for Production & Logistics that complete 60 days of employment will receive a sign-on bonus of $250 as a one-time wage payment. When the new hire completes 120 days of employment they will receive an additional $250 sign-on bonus.
