Purity Linen Services Maintenance Mechanic in New Bedford, Massachusetts
We are looking for a 2nd Shift Maintenance Mechanic within our company. This is a full-time, 2nd shift position that consists of Monday thru Friday alternating Saturdays 2pm -- 10:30pm, and overtime as needed. Overview: The Maintenance Mechanic position is involved directly in completing various maintenance or repair responsibilities. Maintaining the plant and equipment in safe and efficient working order. Provide installation on any new equipment and basic remodeling needs. Essential Functions: Maintaining the plant and equipment in safe and efficient working order. Set-up and repair production equipment in the most effective and efficient way possible to keep production running seamlessly - Perform repairs, installations and / or inspections with the use of ladders, scissor lifts, cat walks Ability to read diagrams for repair, parts look-up and replacement on production equipment Maintain a clean and organized work area Perform preventive maintenance on scheduled intervals, and/or as requested Provide quick feedback to Production Supervisors when any production equipment may need to be taken offline Ensures that the use of safety practices are followed and maintained Perform other necessary duties, including general building and grounds maintenance Operate high pressure boiler and related components, once state issued license to operate exam has been passed. Requirements: -Proven experience as a mechanic in a relevant role, solid references and job history will be required. -Passing of Special License to Operate a High Pressure Vessel exam will given by Massachusetts Dept. of Fire Services is a must. This training, filing of application, testing will be done onsite at our plant and fully scheduled and paid for by the company. -Considerable knowledge of the standard methods, principles, practices, tools and equipment of the maintenance trades. -Considerable knowledge of electric motors, generators, pumps, pressure systems, water systems, and other equipment and systems of the maintenance trades. -Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of mechanical and electrical maintenance. -Considerable knowledge of the principles of mechanical equipment design and fabrication. -Must possess a strong mechanical and have electrical aptitude as well as basic trouble- shooting skills with a proven track record -Experience with power tools, calipers, electrical multi-meters -Ability to read and wire 3 phase as well as single phase motors is a plus -Previous experience with plc\'s, pipe-fitting and welding is needed. -Must be able to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
