Pier Fish Production Supervisor in New Bedford, Massachusetts

Value Added 2nd Shift Production Supervisor Essential Duties and Responsibilities Manage all aspects of the value-added production room, including R&D of new value-added products Maintain proper levels and manage inventory of all raw materials, ingredients, packaging and finished goods Ensure employees follow the proper sanitation standards in an allergen sensitive area Perform weekly finished goods inventory level check Monitor and review production progress against deadline targets to schedule & ensure on-time delivery Communicate any changes to scheduled delivery dates and times with the appropriate personnel/departments Ensure value added room equipment and facilities are maintained and necessary repairs are communicated to Maintenance as required in order to create a highly effective working environment Training all employees on proper use of value-added equipment/machinery Be aware of and promote best practice and performance standards; identify individual training needs Address staff discipline or grievance issues with HR in order to maintain appropriate records in accordance with company procedures Manage change to meet current business requirements Strive towards operational excellence; getting it right the 1st time, high productivity, high efficiency, high effectiveness, minimize waste and maximize value Create weekly planner to keep production updated with needs and to eliminate overtime Manage film and packaging inventories for all items produced in the value added room Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned Skills and Specifications Bilingual (English/Spanish) required; ability to read and write Knowledge of seafood processing; FDA, USDC, HACCP and SQF standards preferred; HACCP & SQF certification a plus Planning, negotiating and organizing; time management skills Awareness of sanitation and hygiene procedures and practices; GMP\'s Good judgment & excellent communication skills Ability to build a high performance team who can operate efficiently, productively and cost effectively Possess the willingness to learn, improve and adapt Solid computer skills and competency in basic MS Office applications Education Requirements Seafood manufacturing/processing background Research & development skills to include: ingredient knowledge, food preparation and presentation Training Requirements Completion of all general safety, sanitation and hygiene procedures, paying particular attention to detail regarding allergens, as well as OSHA required training Product/production processes Work Environment The facility is a wet and cold environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, cut resistant gloves and work boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
