Morgan Advanced Materials Purchasing Manager in New Bedford, Massachusetts

Job Purpose: The Purchasing Manager role reports directly to the Operations Manager. Positions responsibilities include; under general direction; determine objectives to be accomplished including procurement of most materials, supplies, equipment, services and raw materials required by the New Bedford, MA location. Essential Functions: Responsible for all purchases for the New Bedford, MA site. Approve new suppliers based on personal interviews, reputation of prospective supplier, and, if required, a visit to the production facility. Track raw material purchases. Negotiate payment terms and consignment agreements. Manage/supervise Purchasing department. Head inventory teams as required. Review all invoices that differ from purchase orders issued and resolve discrepancies. Visit suppliers as required. Maintain required inventory levels. Negotiate all large purchases. Meet regularly with key suppliers. Expedite problem orders. Regularly obtain quotes on high dollar / volume items. Review all safety stock levels periodically. Creation of new items as necessary and determine proper set up of items in ERP to manage appropriate stocking levels. Submit Vendor Reliability to all raw material and selected critical components. Investigate items for cost savings. Responds to DMRs with suppliers as required. Maintain Purchasing Operating Procedures. Report raw material consignment usage on a scheduled basis as necessary to suppliers. Perform other duties as may be assigned or required. Procurement and supply chain experience required. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements Broad knowledge of business economics as related to the procurement of raw materials and supplies. Four-year college degree in relevant field required Negotiation and managerial skills required. APICS certification preferred. Experience with MRP/ERP migrations preferred. This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by export laws of the US. Hired employees are required to provide proof that they are a U.S. Person as defined by 22 CFR ?120.15. This position requires use of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Additional Requirements: Must be competent with Microsoft Office Expert in Spreadsheet (Excel) software. Must be able to clearly present ideas and reports in written and verbal format. Must be able to work well with subordinates, peers and managers in all departments of the Company. Must be able to work well with external contacts of the Company.
