Ahead LLC Shipper Associate in New Bedford, Massachusetts
JOB SUMMARY:
The Shipper Associate is responsible for ensuring all inbound Domestic, International, parcel, and freight shipments are received accurately according to company procedures. Accurate, timely completion of the duties of the Shipper/Receiver is an essential component in ensuring that companywide goals of quality and on-time delivery are attained.
SCHEDULE:
8:30 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Friday with Overtime (Saturday 7 am – noon) as required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES :
Receive all parcel and freight packages (domestic and international) from UPS, FedEx, DHL, United States Post Office, and other carriers and freight shippers.
Record shipments into receiving logs.
Deliver packages and shipments to internal recipients (front office, production, etc.).
Receive and unload import containers and airfreight shipments at the main facility and offsite warehouse facility.
Communicate and coordinate delivery locations and delivery times with cartage agents.
Pack product that comes from production.
Ensure orders packed match production sheets and attach production sheets to the carton.
Consolidate products as much as possible to ensure savings on shipping costs.
Ensure accuracy in packing all items by color, piece count, and size,
Strap, tape, label and move cartons to a designated area on the shipping floor.
Make up shipping boxes.
Match orders to correct cartons with packing slips.
Ensure product counts on cartons match the packing slip.
Ensure the “ship to” address on the packing slip matches the address on the shipping screen.
Ensure all shipping routines on packing slips and halts are allowed.
Ensure the correct shipping label goes on the correct carton.
Ship and load cartons on UPS/FEDEX/USPS trucks.
Load and unload packages.
Palletize, wrap, and strap products on skids.
Assist floor supervisor with troubleshooting when needed.
Keep shipping and packing areas clean and organized.
Additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Proficient in MS Office
Knowledge of UPS, FedEx, and USPS shipping requirements.
Knowledge of other relevant computer software and systems.
Good communication skills.
Ability to work alone and in a team environment.
Ability to solve problems.
Ability to multi-task under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Must have own transportation.
Ability to use the following tools and machinery.
Tape gun
Utility knife
Pallet truck
Hand truck
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
2 – 3 years’ experience in shipping/warehousing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to talk and hear.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to frequently walk and move about the facility.
Occasionally required to sit.
Ability to use hands to handle or touch.
Ability to use fingers to pinch or grasp.
Ability to reach above shoulders.
Ability to climb, bend, reach, kneel, and crouch.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Occasional lifting up to 100 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Exposure to moderate noise level.
Exposure to hot, humid outdoor weather conditions during the summer months.
Exposure to cold outdoor weather conditions during the winter months.
Work near moving mechanical parts.
VISION REQUIREMENT:
Close and distance vision.
Color vision.
Peripheral vision.
Ability to adjust focus.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Driver’s License
