The Full Charge Bookkeeper position is a short-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity in Newbury, Massachusetts. If you're comfortable with establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives, as well as all general accounting and bookkeeping functions, including the preparation of financial statements, you could be a good candidate for this position.

Your responsibilities

  • Handling processing tasks for accounts payable and accounts receivable, including collections

  • Following progress of fixed assets to prepare depreciation schedules

  • Supervising accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers

  • Completing bank and general ledger reconciliations; processing payroll

  • Preparing the trial balance and financial statements, including balance sheet and statements regarding income and cash flows

  • Studying and adhering to federal, state, and local legal requirements, filing reports, and detailing needed actions to management

  • Maintaining historical records by filing documents

  • Ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close

    Requirements - Earlier work involving Excel, Quickbooks, and Peachtree

  • High school diploma or comparable diploma with an AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred

  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures and job assignments

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

  • Background in payroll preferred

  • Experienced in accrual and cash basis of accounting

  • Ability to multitask and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds

  • Able to work independently with a minimal amount of oversight

  • Bank reconciliations experience desired

  • Process Payroll experience preferred

  • Deep understanding of Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Expertise in Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Month end closings experience

  • Aptitude for analyzing financial data and generating accurate reports in a timely manner

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping experience
