Nuclear Medicine Technologist

  • Performs diversified Nuclear Medicine procedures and therapies to patients of all ages.

  • Responsible for receiving, safe use of, and proper disposal of all radiopharmaceuticals and source materials. State and Federal regulations require documentation of all said activities.

  • Performs periodic quality control and instrument calibrations as stated in technical manuals.

  • Demonstrates safe operation of clinical equipment for imaging acquisition and processing.

  • Properly reconstitutes, completes an activity assay and administers radiopharmaceuticals as stated in Dose Schedules and per Authorized User order.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety in the workplace to prevent accidents/injuries. Practices radiation safety measures for patients, staff and self.

  • Shows working knowledge of infection control practices for patient, self and staff.

  • Wears radiation dosimeters at all times in controlled areas and submitting samples for bioassay as needed.

  • Completes all pertinent technical and clinical data on requisitions and promptly submits test results to Authorized Users for interpretation.

  • Schedules patient exams including instructions to patients and staff regarding test preparations.

  • Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work environment at all times.

  • Periodic data collection for statistical analysis and quality assurance activities as required by various regulatory agencies.

  • Conducts daily surveys and weekly environmental wipe tests.

  • Maintains professional competencies, educational requirements and the required annual updates.

  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality in regard to privileged information in charts, medical records, prescriptions, or test results.

  • Rotating on-call assignments and filling in periodically as backup for sick days and vacation.

  • Properly operates and takes care of all equipment in Nuclear Medicine including reports of any malfunctioning equipment to Director.

  • Oversee students as needed. Provides clinical advice to Nuclear Medicine clerical staff as needed.

Minimum Education

Must be a graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
