Massachusetts Employer Youth Outreach Fellow in Newburyport, Massachusetts

The intern will work with refuge staff and partners. The intern will also have opportunities to assist with projects led by the biological, maintenance, and/or management programs to gain exposure to other aspects of refuge management. DUTIES: Do you love connecting with kids outdoors? Join our team and help support youth outreach and engagement. Through collaboration with community partners in the City of Lawrence, you will have an opportunity to develop and lead nature-based play activities and curriculum for children and teens! Partnership activities include after-school and in-school programming, summer camps, and drop-in community days along the Merrimack River. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn with community about the importance of nature in our own backyards. The fellow in this position will also have an opportunity to work with staff across disciplines at Parker River NWR to gain an understand of different conservation careers, including biology, visitor services, maintenance, and management! The fellow will spend roughly 80% of their work hours in Lawrence, MA and 20% of their work hours in Newburyport, MA Work environment will vary between an indoor and outdoor assignments in the field. Offices and visitor contact stations are adequately lighted and ventilated. Temperature and weather extremes may be encountered in the performance of the outdoor work. Travel opportunities will be available for training or field visits to national wildlife refuges or community partnership sites REQUIREMENTS: A driver\'s license is required to operate a government vehicle. A personal vehicle is recommended but, depending on location, may or may not be necessary for daily commute and work activities. 6 months with possible extension to 18 months
