Bright Horizons Accountant (Hybrid) – General Ledger in Newton, Massachusetts

We are looking for an entry-level Staff Accountant to perform accounting and analysis related to Bright Horizons’ leases, fixed assets, and other misc. general ledger areas. This person will be responsible for maintaining the general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures, reconciling general ledger account balances, preparing monthly financial reports and accounting summaries, examining documents and invoices for accuracy and ensuring compliance with internal control policies and procedures and accounting standards. This role requires excellent analytic skills, knowledge of accounting principles and attention to detail, as well as a level of ethics and professionalism consistent with Bright Horizons’ principles.

What you will be doing:

  • Prepare transactions related to fixed asset additions, disposals, and transfers for all fixed asset accounts

  • Prepare various other journal entries on a daily and monthly basis and ensuring accurate account balances and compliance with GAAP.

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including fixed asset accounts, on a monthly basis and resolving discrepancies.

  • Prepare rent calculations and complete rent related procedures in accordance with leases (CPI, ASC 842)

  • Communicate regularly with landlords, regional managers and other internal departments

  • Assist when necessary with sublet and landlord tenant improvement allowance invoice preparation

  • Perform other month-end and project related accounting functions, including assisting in system implementations

What we hope you will bring to this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • Internship to two years of accounting experience preferred

  • Intermediate Microsoft skills required

  • Experience with Workday and Costar, would be a plus.
