Primary Board Member Duties All Board members should hold themselves accountable for the following responsibilities: Contribute meaningfully to the Board?s core work of oversight, organizational planning, mobilization of adequate resources, and ongoing guidance and support to the ED. Make it a priority to attend every board meeting and retreat (and miss only in exceptional circumstances). Serve as an active ABN advocate and ambassador and engage in outreach when necessary. Make an annual financial contribution to the organization within the constraints of each member?s personal finances, and engage in fundraising on behalf of ABN. Serve on one or more committees or ad-hoc task forces, as needed. Participate in regular self-assessment of Board effectiveness. Invite new members and volunteer to mentor new BOD members. Bring awareness of and comply with conflict-of-interest and other core policies. Show willingness to share ideas, listen, compromise, and advance the work of ABN. Qualifications and Requirements 10+ years of professional experience with a Leadership track record in the industry or C-suite experience. Desire to make a positive impact in the lives of immigrants. Commitment to devote time, talent, and resources in working with ABN to support the career development of skilled immigrants in Massachusetts. Attend and participate in board meetings and participate in committee work. Previous board experience is desired but not required. Priority Board Functional Skills Workforce Development, Fundraising, Legal, Policy/Advocacy, and Finance Planning Priority Industry Background Healthcare, Financial Services, Life Sciences, and Clean Energy Time Commitment The full Board and its committees meet bi-monthly. The average time commitment for members is three to five hours per month. ABN Board terms are 3 years and renewable for 3 terms.
