JOB SUMMARY

Sallie Mae Bank is looking for a Senior Associate of Exchange and Collaboration Infrastructure to join its Workplace Engineering team. This position will be responsible for the planning, design, build, and support of the Microsoft M365 Exchange and MS Teams platforms. An ideal candidate will exhibit strong scripting skills, be self-motivated, adaptable, and dependable. This individual will play a critical role in managing and optimizing Exchange Online and MS Teams environments. This individual will collaborate on multiple projects to ensure for successful completion.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

Required:

  • 5 years or more work experience in a Microsoft Exchange engineering role.

  • Experience in information technology that includes the following:

  • Experience designing and managing Exchange and MS Teams environments with an ability to troubleshot complex issues with mail flow and policies.

  • SME Level knowledge of Exchange (OnPrem or Online)

  • Scripting experience with a focus on automating management of Exchange services and reporting.

  • Experience designing, testing, and implementing configuration, compliance, retention, and conditional access policies within Entra and active directory.

  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing MS Teams profile templates.

  • Experience managing and supporting AWS and Entra services.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences including executives, business stakeholders and IT teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and through cross functional initiatives.

  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to operate effectively across multiple priorities.

  • High degree of adaptability that keeps pace with rapid changes in IT technology.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated experience with bringing in state of the art Microsoft M365 capabilities into a large, geographically distributed environment.

  • Demonstrated experience architecting and engineering mail flow in a multi-domain environment.

  • Demonstrated real-world experience with scripting (any object-orientated language)

  • Demonstrated experience developing complex automation scripting for M365 management.

  • Demonstrated experience with Agile methodology.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

  • Provides support, oversight, governance, and tactical direction that are required to enable the delivery of end user IT messaging and collaboration services.

  • Provide significant input to the overall end user infrastructure architecture and operational governance model.

  • Researching, designing, and implementing Microsoft Exchange Online, SharePoint, and MS Teams services that are standards based, high performing, highly available, and secure in delivering the required business functionality to end users.

  • Administer Microsoft Exchange Online environments within M365 to include Teams Rooms configuration, support of Microsoft Purview and level 3 mailbox troubleshooting.

  • Provide operational guidance to the enterprise on the M365 platforms, specifically for Exchange, SharePoint, and MS Teams.

  • Provides assessments of the current environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommends solutions for improvement.

  • Utilizes capability modeling to align systems strategy and planning with business strategy and goals.

  • Consults with project teams to identify when it is necessary to modify services to accommodate project needs.

  • Implements and promotes standard configuration and change management, processes, and practices.

  • Develop test plans, implementation plans, and project timelines for assigned projects.

  • Provides routine status reporting of compliance and health of Microsoft M365 Services.

Delivering Technology:

  • Performs quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects.

  • Supports existing systems and projects in a minimum of one environment.

  • Reviews completeness of requirements prior to solutioning

  • Plans and coordinates implementation, reviews quality control of systems functional design, usability, functionality, and implementation.

  • Coordinates with appropriate IT and vendor relations teams

  • Ensures early warning to the leadership regarding degraded or missed service levels.

IT Governance:

  • Develop dashboard constructs to be implemented to provide insights to compliance, status, and a real-time overview of Microsoft M365 Services key performance indicators (KPIs) or data points.

  • Develop and maintain detailed process and control documentation.
