*This position would sit onsite at our Newton, MA office ( 320 Nevada St # 401, Newton, MA 02460) with potential to work a hybrid schedule.

In the role of a Senior UI/UX Software Engineer for the Affera Mapping and Ablation System, you will be joining a growing software engineering team whose mission is to develop and deliver the next generation of cardiac ablation systems used to treat various cardiac arrhythmias.

The Affera Mapping System comprises of 3D visualization software used for mapping of electrical activity in the heart, navigation of catheters within the heart chambers, streaming intra cardiac and surface lead electrograms and annotation of 3D and 2D data points. The Mapping System integrates with the Affera Ablation System to record ablation telemetry and annotate in 3D regions where energy delivery was applied.

A Day in the Life

The Senior UI/UX Software Engineer will be an integral member of the Mapping & Navigation Software Team working with the recently acquired Affera technology. This is a unique opportunity to participate in the development of an industry disrupting technology within the electrophysiology field. The ideal candidate has a passion for creating beautiful modern user interfaces and strives to provide an engaging and best in class experience for the end user. In addition, the candidate should have extensive experience developing and testing user interface elements for real-time high-performance visualization applications, can take ownership of key software features while working collaboratively with other engineering teams, and is passionate about working on a product that will have a positive impact on the lives of millions.

Primary Responsibilities

· Build intuitive and easy to use interfaces and interactive tools that will be used by clinical staff to treat patients during medical procedures.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including UI designers and medical professionals to gather requirements and to deliver usable, responsive, and streamlined user interfaces and user experience.

· Extend the software architecture to interface with other Medtronic or external products, incorporating new user interface controls where necessary.

· Apply best practices in software development to maintain high-quality code.

· Understand physician needs and develop new innovative solutions to complex problems.

· Create and update automated testing and continuous integration systems where necessary as software team requirements evolve.

· Document and maintain software specifications and design guidelines.

· Attend and participate in pre-clinical in-vivo system evaluations.

· Participate in laboratory demonstrations for internal stakeholders and clinicians.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree

· Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

· Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering

· Minimum of 2 years of programming in Python, with strong object-oriented programming skills

· Proficiency with development of software on Linux operating system

· Fluency in C+· Experience with a native UI framework such as Qt and QML

· Ability to work in an agile development environment

· Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial drive
